Hi everyone,
I've got a girl friend that had a break-in a few months back.  Woke up with the guy standing over her. Long story short, she was OK, but after a few months has decided to get a gun.  Starting with a .22 (we've had a talk), but she's nearing 60, and I don't think ever owned a gun.  If I was still living there I'd show her the ropes, but don't think my wife would be too keen on me going over and spending the week with her.

Any good options for beginner safety, then maybe home defense classes, in the O.C. area?  She travels to LA, Santa Barbara, and Vegas a lot, and can take classes there potentially.

Thanks.

I'd have her go to Field Times target and training in Stanton (near Knotts Berry Farm).

http://www.fieldtimetargetandtraining.com/

Tell them her concerns and they'll work with her. They have shotguns, which may be a good next step.

But I know how you feel, My wife hates my girlfriend also!

PM Stan08 here; Academy of St Crispin. He will be able to set her up and give her confidence in her shooting.

Meh Stanton an't so bad like before.

OP I agree about Field time, but a good class she can take is the basic handgun from Firearms Training Associates(FTA).

I second the FTA suggestion. I took my little sister to that course as a gift and they do a fantastic job of breaking things down.

Just my two cents. I like the guys there. close to the 5, 405, 91, and 605, freeways. and have you seen the classes offered?

http://www.fieldtimetargetandtraining.com/training.html

Pricey I will admit. I remember paying $80 for basic handgun (not from there).

Thanks. I've forwarded both classes.

BTW, what's with them offering CCW classes? Last I heard, it was pretty much pointless trying to get a CCW in CA.
