Some unknown trillium front sight. It's tritium, not trillium. Trillium is from some science fiction story. <in Foghorn Leghorn's voice> "Tritium, I say, it's tritium!" Forget who makes the shoulder stock too. That is an ACE Skeleton stock. I put a shorty ("ACE entry") on a rifle for my wife. It's light in weight and has a shorter LOP better suited to her size. When I'm done I'll photograph the completed project on a bed of 30 round magazines for the antburners. heh heh I'll ask but you don't have to answer. What did the NVD cost and how long was the lead time? |

[ I'll ask but you don't have to answer. What did the NVD cost and how long was the lead time? Tritium ... darn auto correct! I like the ACE stock with my body armor - good fit as I like a nose-to-the-charging handle stance. The monocular was from Vic at www.tnvc.com here in Loma Linda CA. The delay was 8 weeks as I bought a couple weeks before Thanksgiving aiming for Christmas delivery ... but missed it by a couple of weeks! The kit was $3100 with the J arm, rifle mount and Aimpoint twist mount, camera adapter, and front and rear sacrificial lenes. That's a bit cheaper than third generation monocular from my pre-Y2K memories. |

Some unknown tritium front sight. ACE Skeleton stock too. Still coming LaRue cantilever mount for my Aimpoint Comp ML2, Troy mid-evil muzzle brake, and some Midwest Industries handguards to mount the Surefire IR illumination and laser. This was a ~20 year old project that I decided to finish off (thanks to Obama) and get some trigger time behind. When I'm done I'll photograph the completed project on a bed of 30 round magazines for the antburners. Nice. I recently bought a PVS-14 also. I also picked up a DBAL to use with it. Next week I will be heading out to the desert to give it all a whirl together. I have used the PVS before but not with an infrared laser and helmet mount. It will be interesting. I have a Aimpoint twist mount so I can run either a magnifier or the PVS behind my eotech. You got to love being able to see in the dark. |

Quoted: Quoted: Isn't there some funkyness where you can have night vision on your rifle so long as there's no IR illuminator? Yep, Paul touched that subject under the picture he posted. Thank you, I didn't catch that the first time, I was blinded by jealousy ![]() Will the illuminator mounted separately avoid all that nonsense? |

The barrel had a MAPP gas torch taken to it to remove the evil baby killing attachment (also known as a flash suppressor).

So wait, you took something I thought I understood turned it upside down, inside and rendered me clueless all over again. If I have a PVS-14 mounted to a rifle with no AN/PEQ2, I am good? If I have a PVS-14 mounted to a rifle with a mounted AN/PEQ-2, I am no good right? If I have a PVS-14 on a helmet mount with an AN/PEQ2 mounted on the rifle, am I good? I can't seem to wrap my head around the terminology in your post above. ![]() ![]() |

Do you like the push-the-sling-loop to push the light button setup? Seems more tricky/fail-to-do-what-I-intended-prone to me, but if you're happy with it more power to you. If you don't use the sling loop you could drill out the rivet and remove it.
All of mine are removed. I don't use them for my sling setups, they're just more rattle-battle and ounces at the front of the rifle to me. |

Good advice, I have pulled the sling loops off of other rifles and this one is going to go once I get the push-button quick-release swivel. |

Who's handguard is that btw? Did the handguard cap have to be crushed/bent to make it fit?
I see the delta ring, so probably not FF (ETA: well, I guess some are like the DD), so doesn't matter except wondering why the manufactuerer didn't make it the right length? So is the front cap is still used to retain it on that model or no? |

My first sling is coming ... I have a Armageddon Gear carbine sling coming for a first attempt. In the past I used a three point sling but want to try the "bungee" type. http://www.laruetactical.com/sites/default/files/img_9957.jpg You're lefty though, right? Can't wait to see it on your rifle. |
LaRue ships their gear via UPS - and then requests that the USPS delivers them . More than once I've complained the someone was home and the USPS guy hasn't bothered to walk to my door and has returned packages back to the main office (different part of town). UPS (somehow) manages to walk to my door and rarely misses us and they'll try three times before returning the item - and will even leave items at the neighbors if I ask them.

I'm right-hand dominate but shoot both ways. The IR light is on the starboard side for slinged clearance. Still playing with the lights while looking for an IR laser. Quoted:

Nope, I didn't know you shoot ambi on regular basis too, found out something new. I think my pattern here is tending to stick to the tech & EE parts of the site except for a few months every few years or so. Did you take a before-tansformation weight? Any predictions or suspicions what the final weight will be? |

Did you take a before-tansformation weight? Any predictions or suspicions what the final weight will be? Heavy! For ten years I've been a KISS person but I threw the towel in and sent whole hog. The big brown truck visited the post office ... and the USPS man made the delivery tonight. Too bad I started smoking the turkey breast hours ago less I put the Dillo Dust to sample. |

Nice rig, but it's looking heavy No kidding. I've got a few uppers to rotate onto this guy when I don't feel like 8 pound curls! Nothing is very heavy ... but it's the BUIS, the night vision monocular, the red dot, loaded 30-round magazine ... all add up for another couple of pounds. The flashlight mounts are light enough but the flashlights aren't. Somewhere down the list is a helmet to mount the NVD on which will get that off the rifle ... and onto my noggin.

Need a small counter weight pouch to hold a spare battery for the PVS-14 and some sort of patch for the side. Is that at pro-tech from TNVC? Let me know how you like it after you use it a few times. I have been considering one myself? |
