If someone comes across a hit who should they contact - the poster directly or which law enforcement agency.

And as a reminder. When you own an AR-15 or two, a pistol or two, a scope ... it's time to invest in a safe place to store these things. In all my years here I've heard of dozens of weapons stolen out of a closet or from under a bed but not a story yet about ones cut from a gun safe. Even a simple gun cabinet can keep casual theft of a weapon. They cost $200-$300 and can be bolted with 4" lag bolts into the wall and floor. A "real" gun safe costs about $600 to several hundreds of dollars. Most are 10 gauge steel and will have a door stronger than the safe's body. Protection is measured in pounds here. A fire lining is a good option to have as many guns are burned in safes. I chose a digital lock as being more secure - more combinations, quicker to open, easy to open without eye glasses, and the combination can be changed. Mechanical locks can be opened by contacting the manufacturer with a search warrant or proof-of-purchase and the serial number.

Operations security means hiding the safe in a bedroom closet where guests are not likely to see it. Also don't brag around about your weapons.

Dear ol' dad has told me that all my life growing up... "Shut your mouth when it comes to guns and what we own"

I now know what he was talking about.

I know nothing, I own nothing, its none of anyone's business.
