Not the greatest area.  Go further south on Long Beach Blvd. and you get into the downtown area.  Quite a bit of night life on Pine Avenue which is the next major street west of Long Beach Blvd.  Just a bit further south on Pine is an area with quite a few resturants and other entertainment venues.

All the hookers you can shake a stick at, especially from PCH down to Anaheim blvd. And, a a few dope slingers thrown into the mix. The harbor area near the restaurants, Yard House, and as stated, Pine st area are a LOT better atmosphere.

I went to school in Long Beach, most of the area around the college and towards the marina is pretty nice. Look into Seal Beach too, I love that area.

There are a few good restaurants down around The Pike we like to go to, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., it's south of Shoreline Dr across from Aquarium of the Pacific. Outback Steakhouse, PF Changs, and Gladstone's are down the street. Gladstone's has the best crab cakes I've ever eaten.

There's a comedy club on Pine and Shoreline we've been meaning to go to, Laugh Factory. The Queen Mary is near there too.
