Fillmore has a Car Show going on that day, doesn't it? I heard it is a good one. We were debating driving up from Los Angeles to check it out. Otherwise, we tend to stay home on the 4th. The beach is a couple of miles away, but is a zoo on holidays. Maybe we'll go shooting or fishing at my buddy's place. Eric  |

Do not expect to find any parking anywhere near the park that might be thought of as being within walking distance of seeing the fireworks up close. Not only will it be gone by mid-afternoon, it likely won't be that good. 2 or 3 years ago the wind conditions drew the smoke down on to the I-5, between backed up conditions, (people asuming they can drive up at the last minute) and the smoke, CHP and APD requested that the fireworks be cancelled about half-way through. They were. Fireworks Parking, a special rate for a special event was not refunded. Being a little way away on a high point is a much better deal than being up close. The traffic will be hellacious around the park all day. I requested early shifts in by 7 and away by 2. July 4th days are some of the busiest of the year and you can expect that admission will be restricted early in the afternoon. |
