I saw that your club was on the list. why is it that all the CMP "ok" gun clubs are all north of LA???? lol. I'm down in San Diego. I am planning on moving back to Orange County but not ASAP. I'd like to become a member and be active. I'll look into it. I'll look around on the website to see whats up. Thanks again. I have three offers on the table.... surprised.

You can get the CMP package going by joining the California Rifle & Pistol Association. It is a statewide club and gets you a monthly magazine in the mail. Hit here: http://www.crpa.org/ I have been trying several local clubs when they have Garand Matches. All have been very good places to shoot. Recently, my 12 year old was interested in shooting a match and went along to pull targets if he couldn't shoot. Local club had equipment for a junior program and let him borrow a shooting coat, ground mat and rifle. I had the extra ammo, so there was nothing holding him back from making holes in his target. He received a CMP certificate and has shot in another match since  Here are some clubs that are around the Los Angeles County/Orange County areas.....Most list on the CMP website with Garand Matches. http://www.brearifleandpistolclub.org/ Shot there a few times. Easy going folks and good place to shoot. http://www.brrc.org/ Have not been there yet, but have heard lots of positive things. http://www.goldenbears.org/ Nice range and good folks. http://www.santamargaritagunclub.org/ Range facility at Camp Pendelton. Folks were friendly and great place to shoot. |

WOW... down the street from my house. Hero the ppl that go are good ppl? Young, old? lol... I'm interested in this place... I was a member there for a long time. Lots of good members there. 300 yard rifle range, and ranges for pistols, shotguns and .22s. Never did anything but shoot rifles there, however. Mostly I've shot in the Palma match, which is one string of unlimited sighters followed by three strings of 15 rounds for record, all fired prone slow fire at 300 yards. I've also attended some of the Highpower matches there. The "culture" there in my experience was very competition/Highpower oriented, but then that's what I was doing at the time. They have a web page. A real good gun club is the one in Seeley. I don't recall the name of the club, maybe the El Central Gun Club or something like that (I can look it up if there is interest). 800 yard range with pull down targets –– an old military range. I did the long range shoots, usually a low turnout, but casual and fun. Oh, and what do you mean by "down the street from my house"? It is down the street fromt he ranch I grew up at. |
