NO You can not use a "Large Capacity" magazine (one that holds more than 10 rounds) in any FIXED MAGAZINE firearm. And that is exactly what a BULLET BUTTON equipped AR would be. You may only use a Large Capacity magazine in either a Featureless rifle (one that has none of the "Assault Weapon" Features), or a Registered Assault Wepaon (RAW). AW Features are: - Collaspable Stock - Pistol Grip - Vertical or Pistol Grip forward of the magazine well - Flash Hider - Grenade Launcher (which is a DD or Destructive Device, in and of itself) |

In reality, it does not make a "Fixed Magazine" which is a specific type of ammunition feeding device that is part of and internal to the actual firearm . So unless you want to be the test case and spend $10,000 keeping yourself out of jail, you need to follow the cow heard where there is safety in numbers. No feeding devices over 10rds with BB equipped firearms. FYI, you can modify the 30rd magazine to only hold 10rds, then its legal as long as the modification has some sort of permanence and not just a block of wood stopping the follower. FTI X2....there is no such thing as "pre-Ban" in California. Magazines owned in California prior to 1/1/2000 are legal to repair with new parts, so its possible to have a magazine with all new parts. |
