i have some 30rnd mags for sale in the ee and a guy in california wants to buy them. he says as long as i take them apart before shipping it's ok to ship them to CA. i know people can have kits out there to repair or replace some parts, but i would be sending 10 COMPLETE mags all taken apart, 10 mag bodies, 10 followers, 10 springs. all shipped in the same package,is this okay?

| It has been almost exactly 10 years since the California ban on the sale of standard capacity mags. During those 10 years, aluminum-bodied mags could have seen a lot of hard use...dents in the body, bent/cracked feed lips, broken spot welds, Etc. I've got 3-4 mags I've taken out of service for those reasons and I'm not a heavy user. Is the buyer telling the truth about worn out mags? I don't know. In the end, only you can determine if you want to go through with the sale. |
| 44mag.com sells us 30rd mags here in CA completely dissassembled. its perfectly legal. the buyer must comply with the law by never building them into 30 rd mags, only using the parts needed to repair his current mags. so yes, you will be fine selling them to a buyer here, as long as they are dissassembled. |

There are two separate legitimate goals for someone buying disassembled hicap mag parts kits in CA:
1) repair/replacement parts for existing CA-legal pre-2000 hicap mags; 2) parts to construct 10-but-looks-like-30 rd ("10/30" , sometimes "10/20" ) magazines. If the person articulates these reasons, he's legit. Bill Wiese San Jose CA |

Already answered above, but if you have doubts, read this DOJ letter, particularly questions 1, 2, and 3. http://www.hoffmang.com/firearms/DOJ-large-cap-magazines-2005-11-10.pdf |
