I am utterly embarrased and confused after the latest bills.
I'm a Californian, born and raised in Richmond and am proud of where I am from. I am AD USAF and have served since 02.. I joined to serve my country and help provide FREEDOM to my fellow Americans. But all I see is our freedoms stripped away by these idiots in office and it makes me feel like my service is for nothing. What good is protecting and ensuring our American way of living is not threatened from the outside when it is being dismantled by our own "leadership"? |

Thank you for your service. You give us strength and we fight the good fight here to try and repay you for your service. It's frustrating but we're fighting the same battle and we will win. Thankyou It just gets irritating as all hell, I am here in Japan watching our state getting stomped repeatedly into the dirt by the people running it. They welcome illegals and encourage welfare fat rats while putting the screw to those that actually work and benefit the state. We need real leadership and a huge attitude change. I will forever call the East Bay home, and realized how much I missed the Bay Area (believe it or not the smell at SFO when I was en-route elsewhere was a beautiful thing to me).. I just pray we take it back. |

"Taking it back", well that would take a miracle to happen. I'm afraid liberals that flooded this state back in the 60's and 70's has a lasting effect that it's going to take a massive push by conservatives to even the playing field. Eventually directing our state in the right direction. I have warned my eldest daughter before going to college that she will be encountering professors that will be spewing their liberal agendas instead to teaching academics. Sure enough she has encountered two so far. Classic case of indoctrination. Thank you for your sevice. |

I liked it best when FRONTLINE was interviewing a service woman in Iraq. She asked the news reporter, "What am I doing over here protecting the rights and freedom of the Iraqi people, when we're loosing our own freedom back at home?"
I thought it was a rather thought provoking statement. |

Having had to raise my hand more than a few times ... if I recall correctly there's a line in there about "all enemies foreign and domestic ... " so those who wrote the oath understood that enemies of the Constitution can come from within and from outside the nation. Our nation has, for longer than you've been alive, been slipping step-by-step, away from 200 years of Constitutional rule. It wasn't moving too fast when I was born but has gathered steam and move away from the Constitution is now full steam ahead. In the 1960's with the rise of two movements - the anti-Viet Nam war movement and the recreational drug explosion - spawned the hippy movement and the administration's response saw massive infringements on freedom and liberty ... that response continues today. It's human nature for those in power to want to retain that power and seek more. It's also human nature for the weak to seek the protection of the powerful. The Constitution intentionally limited the power of the politicians over the people but with the hippy movement they had the backing of the people to make sweeping changes and seize power while the people were glad to allow that, who supports dopers and hippies ... or recently Muslim terrorist. The people are giving up fundamental freedoms and liberty for some temporary safety. Many of the actions of the government produce victims and needy people - perfect for the government provided solutions. Look at what the reaction of California's legislature is following any tragic event ... we need to do something - let's pass a law banning this or that - and limiting the liberty of the people. The changes nationwide are sweeping and grand - the ones here in California are bad, there are very public examples of our issues - but the ones nationwide are far more grim. I can pick up and move from California in a three day weekend and hold my rifle with my palm forward. However the powers given to the police at the local, state, and national level are harder to escape. This nation is well on the way to larger all-powerful government which is going to cost the people higher taxes - and worse - the loss of more liberty. There's not a single aspect of our lives that is not fully controlled and regulated by federal and state laws ... and that's not the nation this country was 30 and 40 years ago. Where and when this ends is not clear. I do know that this is still a free nation ... less free today than yesterday ... and that there is a growing movement among the people protesting the growing burden of the government. |

I'm pretty pissed off, I have not recieved anything related to upcoming elections.. is nothing going on or is Contra Costa trying to avoid the military vote? Absentee ballots? Unless its something local this is an off year - next year we're voting for Governor, 1 Senator, and the House. Your unit should have a voting assistance NCO to give you the details. I know the streets aren't papered with Jones for School Board posters, the Governator hasn't called and left 87 messages on my machine, and the labor unions and out-of-state special interest groups haven't peppered the airwaves with BS so there's no chance on an election anytime soon. I think it's local issues only this cycle. I did check my local paper and there's some local rumblings going on ... but I'm a permanent automatic absentee ballot guy and haven't seen mine yet. I did see a story about a judge striking out text in the voter's guide so it might still be early. |

My wife is registered in a nother county and she got a "Practice Ballet" so it had me itching to help stop the insanity so it looks like I jumped the gun.

I hate to say it, most wars are really bankers wars. We fight for Bankers, wall street and the Fed is behind it all. Through the Fed,IMF and World Bank they fund both sides of the conflict at one time or another to perpetuate their imperialistic agenda. This was never what America was supposed to be about. Freedom is not created or givin to us. We do not earn freedom. Freedom is an inherent part of being a human being. However we must always fight to keep it and it almost always comes at the point of a gun in the long run. We won this country at the point of a gun. What we are seeing now is the natural progress of government and country (from a historical perspective), which many times ends in a revolution. You are doing your part, but soon you may also be helping us do ours right here at home. Every citizen should be a soldier. No one should ever depend on their government to provide them safety, to do so is folly. |
