I'm buying a gun from a dealer in GA and need to have it transfered to a local store.  I was told there is a $100 "import fee".  Is this normal?  Anyone know a good, friendly, and cheap place in OC to transfer a firearm?

I believe you're getting taken. As much as our frind the dealer in Georgia may want it, California is not another country. We TRADE across state lines not import or export. There may be a relatively new Cal DOJ fee, but it's not a hundred smackers.

So if it was me, I'd tell him "Nevermind on the gun, and by the way, the South lost the war!"

There is some new BS gun law Kali passed, maybe between that and the typical FFL fee it runs $100.00.

No. California DOJ now requires all FFLs in California to register with the state so that the may be on a roster of dealers that can be shipped to in the state. It then requires that any FFL shipping to a California FFL contact the DOJ and verify if they are registered. There is no charge for this and if they so choose, they can even do it on line.

Other than freight, it shouldn't cost more to ship to here than any other state. It is once again just another stupid $#!+ trying to take advantaage of us because of his petty jealousy of our beautiful state and the fact that we do not have to marry our sisters.

I believe the receiving FFL is charging the import fee.  Every dealer charges differently to "import" a firearm from out of state, whether from a private party or a dealer .  I have seen as high as 125  and as low as 45.  Most FFL's will charge some type of extra fee because you are not buying it directly from them.

It's actually Evan's Gunsmithing in OC that wants the $100.  Anyone have a "go to guy" that won't try to rip me off?  I usually liked to get kissed before I get #%$&*@!!

I go to Bright Spot Pawn in Riverside.  They charge $60 but that includes DROS.
