Here are some pics during the wildfire in my neck of the woods originally from the Harris fire.

View from my frontyard

One of the neighborhood parks just west of Otay Lakes

Very east end of a housing development.  Jamul/Delzura fire.

Also the same development.  Very east end.  Notice that the fire has not crested yet.

Night time right past Proctor Valley Road.

Just one of the many fire trucks that has responded.

Imperial Beach fire truck lending a hand.

City of Chula Vista road crew setting up road blocks to prevent on lookers from getting into a world of trouble.

Night time view of Mount Miguel the whole east and south side is engulfed in flames.  There are communication towers, repeaters, etc. on top surely they have sustained damage.  Also a major high voltage power line runs west of the mountain.

Thanks to Duffy for assisting me with pics.

While driving home from work North on the 405, going South were 40+ Fire engines in a row.  A few minutes later were another 6 trucks.  They must have left the Malibu fire and were heading south.  That was a sight to see.

Where there any out of town fire engines?   Other states supposedly sent fire engines to assist.

There wasn't enough time to read the trucks.

LA County and LA City have sent fire trucks to the OC and San Diego fires. I saw a few on the freeway yesterday heading down that way.

That really sucks.

I really enjoy riding the back country roads throughout eastern San Diego county and have been in your neck of the woods many times.

Logged many miles through Otay lakes, Proctor, Skyline, Lyons valley, Japatul, etc.

Was hoping to do a long ride in the next month now that the weather has cooled, but seeing all the charred hillsides is gonna suck.

Here's a shot facing west either from Dehesa or Japatul Valley Rd.

Yep I agree.  Our back roads are just some of San Diego's asset.  It may be awhile before we see green on the burned areas.  I'm hoping it would rain soon to wash off the ash and promote new growth.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.  When you do get a chance to come down here when things normalize, ride up Otay Mountains great scenery of Mexico, Chula Vista, east county, and downtown San Diego.  It's a BLM land though and the road is basically dirt with lots of rocks.
