If not for the great information and helpful people on AR15.com my first build would have never happened. Please post your gun pictures here for other CA shooters to view. Please note your set up. This is a Stag 16 inch Upper on a Stag-15 Off List Lower. VLTOR CASV-EL front end. http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r178/hms281/good.jpg |
You're welcome.
I think the puppy is an illegal forward assist! |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/naytwan/Guns/IMG_0558.jpg All Stag gripless build. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/naytwan/Guns/_MG_2576.jpg This is before I refinished the upper. It is a Bushmaster upper with YHM Phantom 5C1, YHM Spector length forearm, MI front sight, ARMS rear, Eotech 511, Vltor club foot, magpul maid, and prince 50 mag lock.. I have removed the maid and replaced it with a black ergo grip. Here is a pic of the barrel, upper and lower before I reassembled it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/naytwan/finish.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/naytwan/Guns/_MG_2574.jpg This one has a diffrent upper now. A DPMS SDM-R upper. In this pick there is a DPMS LoPro upper with YHM Rifle length forearm, CMMg lower with RRA 2 stage trigger and a leupold knock off. Also a magpul PRS stock, houge grip, bipod and prince 50 mag lock. Not shown in this pic is an accushot monopod. Here is a photo of the new upper before I dismantle it to upgrade it :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v425/naytwan/IMG_0576.jpg |

Yep, no pistol grip. Yep, it still shoots bullets. http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y123/hopi420/P1010003-1.jpg |
It takes a trained eye to see the set screw hole at the top of the mag release and the follower block notches on the front and back of the mag. |

Ah yes, Angeles.. we had a couple of deer walk out onto the range one day there... kinda wild to see that... they cease fired the range and then had one of the RO's run out there with the ATV to scare them off. Nice rifle you got there....
|
Thanks DrFrige. Deer have walked out onto the range two out of the five times I've been there. They're smart...they know we can't shoot them. |
Are those 10rd or 20rd mags? |

I recognize the "woodstock" rifle before I recognize you! |

Hey Bryan, Yeah, that's the Range Maglock. It's very easy to install...I'll probably try the Prince50 kit someday, but I only have 1 complete rifle now so I don't really need one. |

Your fork and knife are on the wrong side of the plate. |
A prototype of the new CA Range Safe Mag Lock – aka bullet tip magazine lock that was announced on 1/1/07? Sweet, I can't wait until those are in production. ETA - I see you're talking about trying the Prince50, so you must have something different. The one I'm talking about does not require top loading. It takes a bullet tip or tool to drop the mag, therefore the rifle does not meet the definition of being capable to accept a detachable magazine. |
| maybe i'm naive or im reading too much into your wording, but i dont see how that wouldnt not classify the rifle as not having the capacity to accept a detatchable mag. to me using a tool or bullet tip to drop the mag means that the rifles DOES then have the ability to accept a detatchable mag. please clarify for me. |
PLEASE just read the FAQ at calguns.net |
That range is so clean... is it new? |
From the way I understand it in stock form the magazine can be detached from the gun with a push of a button. The new range mag lock will reverse this. You will not be able to detach the magazine. On the other hand you will be able to attach one. Detachable in the eyes of California law from my understanding means the magazine can be removed from the gun without the use of a tool. Attachable magazine on the other hand is not outlawed. You will be able to attach a magazine but not detach it. You will need a tool to do that. CA law says a bullet counts as a tool. Go to calguns for a better explanation. I am absolutely not an expert on this subject. I am only repeating it to the best of my knowledge. There is a huge post over at Calguns detailing everything about the law and the mag release. |
Here are your links. Read why it's okay HERE Check out the product HERE |

AHA! That's why I can't find a U-15 stock! My CA-AR pics later |
That's far too vague a question. There is a list, anything not on the list is ok. A few options might be: CMMG Stag Superior Arms and nearly countless others. Brian |
| My Lower is a Stag-15. The Mag is a C-Products 10 round fixed. It is a 30 round magazine that will only load 10 rounds. I had a bushmaster 10 round magazine and it just didn't give the look I was after. I like the "Real Look" it gives it for sure. Love it. Try 10percentfirearms for the magazines. Great guys here in CA. |
