| Where do you guys go to shoot other than shooting ranges? I would like to go to the desert/blm land but would have no clue as to where to start looking for this land. I Live in Burbank and need some directions please. |

Having checked with the San Bernardino County Sheriifs at the Victorville office in the past they were absolutely clueless. I send a letter to the Sheriff mentioning that their professionalism and ability to serve the public was sadly lacking. Check with the BLM directly. The Barstow office even has a map (of sorts) on line. oops the BLM has pulled all their sites off-line for security reasons??????? Anyhoo, The BLM says that if it is legal in CA it is ok by them to shoot as long as all applicable other laws or regs (shotgun only, private property, over roads, structures, etc) are followed. |

I've visited the Moreno Valley office a few times. The guys and gals there are nice and polite. I've had them run across me several times out enjoying desert shooting. They were very helpful during the change in policy allowing assault weapons on BLM property in California. The feeling I got from them is that the BLM is federal property and the state and counties have no business telling the feds on what they can and cannot allow on their property. I can relate as I work at a federal installation where the state trys to stick their nose in where ever they can. We have to follow the pollution and smog regulations but none others that I know of. San Bernardino County has a county wide ban on rifle shooting but the BLM allows it in violation of the county ban. The BLM rangers said that they were not there to enforce county law - only federal and BLM law As a note for the BLM - these guy's primary concern is the stewardship of the land they've been entrusted to protect. They are less concern with shooting and more concern with trash, broken glass, and bush fires. Please don't shoot glass bottle, pick up your garbage and a bit more if it's in you, and never shoot steel jacketed ammo during fire season. The range you crap on or burn down might be the one they shut down to all of us. |
