| hey guys those who have a fab-10, where can i find one in california other than l&g weaponary and shoeless venture any good dealers out there i need to find a lower for a friend. how much did you guys pay? and where did you buy it? |
It has been "in the works" for the past several years from what I've heard. I don't have a clue if it will ever make it to production. The best way to get an answer is to call Michael (since he doesn't have a computer to go online, and emails are routed to a different state) |
so what your saying is that the magwell wasn't welded up and the mag was just epoxied in? got any pics?....I got my fab from sonoma as well, but havent seen Paul selling the Vulcan lowers? |
|
Thanks for the pic Lon. That looks 100% better than a FAB10. Vulcan kept the mag release and the bolt stop, and most importantly, what looks like a normal mag. I would think it feeds better than the internal mag of a FAB10. Also, is the receiver cast or forged? |
Is it epoxied in such a way that it could be undone if the gun is permanently moved to a free state? |
|
so it the vulcan is legal- then I can transform the fab to look the same way...open up the mag well and stick a full 10rd mag in it/rivet/seal it back up.... Hey Patty, does Micheal have anything to say about the vulcan lowers and how it can be much better without the mag well welded up & a chopped 10rd mag jammed inside of it?.....feeding/reliability issues with the fab10 would be almost nonexistant if SLV had went with the vulcan method. |
Are you sure it was Paul@ sonoma firearms that sold you the Vulcan lower? I'll give him a call in the morning to check |
Maybe he wants to fix the feeding problems. Maybe he wants to switch calibers. 6.8SPC, .50 Beowulf, .458SOCOM anyone? |
Not ture, if u open the magwell it becomes a AW according to the DOJ. If u were to do it, u would have to go out of state. I think without Vulcan receivers the Fab10 would have a monopoly in Ca. |
so then why does vulcan recievers have a bushy lower stuck in with a 20rd mag blocked to 10rds and still pass doj's inspection? what's wrong with doing the same to the fab |
![]() Where have you been? The FAB-10 HAS had a monopoly on CA for over 2 years! If the CA DOJ has accepted an AR15 lower, with the magazine parts frozen by one method or another so that they won't work (Vulcan) then how is the FAB-10 with a pinned magazine, which still would not have a magazine catch any worse off for legality? Why couldn't you buy a DSA, Bushmaster, LMT, CMMG, Stag, Mega, or other lower and just do the same thing Vulcan does? The answer is you can. By accepting a standard AR15 lower, with a pinned magazine from Vulcan, the DOJ is admitting that "AR15 series" is unenforceable by name. So as long as you stay within the legal boundaries of the assault weapon by feature laws, you're ok. I'd still like to see the letter to Vulcan from the DOJ stating their lower is legal. Or as they like to put it, up to local DA interpretation. Until we see that none of this discussion matters. |
exactly my point...fix feeding problems and get a .25wssm/50beo uppers....that way I can get more than three rds of wssm or beo's into the mag instead of just using the chopped mag that the the fab gets. |
| It would be my understanding (according to the talk i had with a DOJ rep.) that they make the recievers out of state, then bring them in with the fixed mag. I called them about doing this, but he told me that i needed to make a prototype out of state, then send it in for possible approval. If i made it in state and for whatever reason they denied it i would be in violation of the law! Ghey! |
Do it with an 80% receiver and don't do something silly, like don't finish the pistol grip portion of it. Then ask, if that rifle, which was legal as it was since it didn't have a pistol grip, were to be given a pistol grip, would it be legal. If it gets denied, it isn't an AW by feature and it isn't an AR-15 or variant because it doesn't have a pistol grip, so you would be in the clear. |
