Well, there was a negligent discharge this afternoon, from what I'm told. OC sheriffs were there taking reports and had one table area taped off. One vendor I talked to next door said bullet fragments did strike a bystander, though there was no report of serious injury. I'm shudder to think how this will play in the general media.  (Did pick up some ammo at Miwall and a flip-up front sight from ASA, though.)

was there, didnt see or hear the gun go off. the RUMORS i heard was that it MAY have been semi auto 223, and the bullet went through the clothes of a dealer but never touched the skin. i heard the dealer was showing how the gun worked while using a live round. also heard it may have been a loaded gun brought in by a customer and didnt get the gun cleared at the front table. DONT take my word for it on all this, its just what i pieced together from 3 different people. |

Monday, February 9, 2004 Vendor shot at gun expo An expo patron accidentally fires a rifle during the event. By KIMIKO MARTINEZ The Orange County Register An unidentified vendor was shot in the leg Sunday when a rifle was accidentally fired during a gun show at the Orange County Fair & Expositions Center. The unintended rifle firing occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. while a patron at the Crossroads of the West gun show was inspecting the firearm, according to fairground officials. A fragment of the bullet struck a nearby vendor in the leg after ricocheting off the floor. Paramedics administered First-aid for the wound. Fairground’s Chief Operating Officer Steve Beazley called the incident “unfortunate.” “Safety is the number one priority on the facility, at all shows, not just gun shows,” Beazley said. “It’s very unfortunate that this happened, but I think we have good security and safety measures in place.” While Orange County Fairgrounds facilities were used for the show, event promoters B&L Productions have their own rules and regulations regarding safety measures for the show, Beazley said. Officials from B&L Productions were unavailable for comment. ----------------------------------------------- i just hope it was the customer that brought in the loaded gun and not the vendors fault. |

A condensed version of the above OC Register article also showed up in the Local section of the OCR under a different byline today also. No indications of what kind of weapon other than a rifle. Hit a vendor at adjacent display, treated and no transportation. Bet he asks for differnt neighbors next show. |

actually glendale gun show has gotten bigger and better, but it will never be great due to its size limitation. its has been a 2 floor show for a little while now, and picks up mostly local patrons and dealers. unfortunately the owners of the show make simple mistakes that could help build up the show, ive personally given the owner some ideas that every other show is doing but he doesnt do it and makes excuses. of course with every gun show in the state there would be more guns for sale if the laws werent fucked, most people wont even bother with it, and i talked to one guy that wont even bother dealing in low-cap mags. this coming glendale show will prolly be very poor because a lot of people are going to shot show. |
| I posted better details on THR but here is a little bit. Gun was a neutered version of what we love so much here. Dealer hit was dealer selling. I could do more damage by poking you with a pencil. Still unclear if rifle came in loaded or was loaded for demonstration. If the latter then a dummy round should've been used obviously. I was maybe 100ft away. |
Last time I checked, a FAB-10 wasn't considered an AW.
