Just saw that the red snapper season opens June 1st. Only 3 days if you fish out of your own boat like me. 49 day season for the charter boats

It is ridiculous!  They are so plentiful here on the west coast they can be caught in 50" water out of Bayport on rock piles.  It's hard to grouper fish when you get past the red snapper.

The press release said that private recreational anglers had exceeded their share last year and would be 'paying it back' this year. Just realized that I promised to go with my son to the Atlanta BLADE show that same weekend, so no red snapper for me unless i pay for a charter. Sure wish there was some way to "spread" out the 3 day season, lol.

The BS rules and regulations are why my brother and I sold our off-shore boats...

Just read that this is for federal waters (9 nautical miles out). As long as you dont go past that and stay in state waters the season is open sporadically throughout the summer into the fall. Unless the powers that be change their minds.

It would be real tough to find RS in state waters on this coast.  Panhandle isn't a problem and they have monster RS up there.

NOAA is so crooked it's not even funny. There are a handful of shareholders that have a monopoly going on and it makes me want to puke.

Saw this on Florida Sportsman, this is the 'recreational fishing' rep on the Gulf Council.  Things start to fall into place when you realize someone like Pam Dana represents "us".  Her FB page for the charter biz is getting blown up btw.

amen!  you're not alone.  I sold my 30' center console for THIS VERY REASON.  Just too much bullshit.  I almost exclusively freshwater fish now. Well played government.
