If you are talking about getting Disney tickets, then you will want to buy your tickets at least 30 days ahead of time and at least 60 days if you are staying at a Disney property.

That is because that is how far in advance you can book fastpasses for the rides at Disney but they only allow that if you have a ticket.

You will want to book your fastpasses as early as possible because the fastpasses for the most in demand rides go quickly.

Note: Buying tickets at the park are the same price as buying them on-line.

maybe an advantage to the exchange rates depending on where you are buying them?

Any exchange rate discount would be negated by the delay in getting fast passes.

This link shows the only ways to get discounted tix.

Definitely go for the FastPass. I'd never go back to Disney without fast passes. We went in May because we got the tickets at half price from someone that goes to school with my wife and works at Disney. Let's just say that I was so tired of waiting an hour and sometimes even more to get into some of the rides that I could barely walk when we left!
Also, instead of buying tickets to go to Disney (Magic Kingdom) 4 consecutive days consider instead getting tickets to Magic Kingdom one day and then get tickets for the other parks. Epcot, Animal Kingdom, SeaWorld, etc.

Disney has all sorts of ways and combinations to buy tickets but I'm pretty sure that any of the multi-day tickets are good at any of the parks.  Note: If you want to go to more than one park in the same day, you will need to get the "park hopper" option.  That is, if you have a 4 day ticket, you can't use day 3 ticket in one park and day 4 ticket to another park if they are in the same day.

Like the poster above said, FastPass is how you avoid the long lines at the attractions.  When you wait in a 5 minute or less line while everyone else is in the "standby line" with a 110 minute wait, you will be happy you paid attention to what I'm about to say below.

Book your FastPasses as early as possible.  That means 30 days before (starting at 7am eastern time) or 60 days before if you are staying at a Disney property.  If you want a FastPass for Frozen at Epcot, you will need to book it in day 59 or 60.

You are allowed to book 3 FastPasses per person per day at a single park for each day you have a ticket.  So if you have a 3 day ticket, you can book FastPasses in advance for 3 days.  Note: The days do not have to be in a row but they do have to be within the 30 or 60 day window.  That means to get the full advantage of your 30 or 60 days, you will have to run the app or go to the Disney site 3 different days.

Once you have used all your FastPasses in a particular day, you can then book an additional one for the same day at any of the parks.  Once that one is used, you can then book another one that day at any of the parks, and so on.  To book new ones, you can use the app, the Disney web site or one of the kiosks in the parks.

At Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, they have broken the rides up into Tier 1 and Tier 2 so that only 1 of your 3 FastPasses can be from Tier 1 (meaning at Epcot, you need to choose between getting a FastPass for Test Track, Soar'in and Frozen).

The last note about the FastPasses is that each one has a time window, typically an hour and you can not book overlapping FastPasses.  So if you have a 10am Fastpass for Space Mountain, it is good for arrival at the ride between 10am and 11am and the earliest you can book the next FastPass is 11am.  Note: You can actually get in the line up to 5 minutes before the time window or up to 15 minutes after the time window so a 10am FastPass is actually good between 9:55am and 11:15am.

The cast members manning the lines don't pay attention to what name the FastPass is under so if members of your group don't want to go on a particular ride, the other members can use their FastPass and go on the ride again.

Disney has multiple theme parks in Orlando.  They are the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and 2 water parks.  Universal Studios also has two theme parks near by.

Disney provides free transportation between its theme parks.

Fastpasses are included with the price of your ticket.  Basically they are a reservation for a time to go on a ride so that you wait in a shorter line.  You want to book them as soon as possible for the best selection.  When you book them you need to decide which park you are going to on a specific day then get Fastpasses for the rides you want to do most that day.

If you are asking for a strategy, there are a number of web sites dedicated to that topic.  What I try to do is book the rides with the longest lines and at peak times.  That way when lines are short, like first thing in the morning, I won't waste a Fastpass selection.

If you are going to dine at any of the character meals or popular restaurants, make sure you book those in advance too.

Checkout disboards.com and wdwprepschool.com for further reading.

Download the Disney World app and look around.  It will have maps of the parks as well as info about the places to eat.

When are you going to Disney?

Where are you staying? At a Disney hotel?

If you are going to be in Orlando in October, you will want to check out Halloween Horror Nights at Universal.

I asked about staying at Disney because if you do, that gives you longer to make the Fastpasses.  Kissimee is close to Disney and lots of people stay there when visiting the mouse.  Keep in mind that Disney charges $20 a day parking.

How long are you going to be in town how many people in your party total?
