Gentlemen,
I have been fighting the good fight from the inside for a very long time. It is becoming nigh time to admit that the Communist rule of the state my family helped found is complete. As such, I am contemplating my final move to your fair state in an attempt to tip the balance away from those NY'ers headed to SE Florida. I will be bringing my freedom loving family with me save my oldest who will, hopefully, be appointed to either the USNA or USMA. If you would be so kind, could you advise of areas to look and those to stay away from. I am very familiar with the Space Coast area but am not absolutely centered there. Thank you. |

A lot would depend on line of work or are you retired? Do you want city or more rural? Close to oceans? I enjoy the coast, not a big city person. I will retire from my agency here and just look for some PI work down there. I'm not pushing a patrol unit around again. |

Didn't you see the part about "freedom loving" in the OP? It's fucking amazing how unwelcoming some Floridians are. Quoted:

Don't bring that "back in ny" or "this is how we do it in ny" or pretty much any reference to ny. We have enough of that shit already. Didn't you see the part about "freedom loving" in the OP? It's fucking amazing how unwelcoming some Floridians are. Meh, my predesessors have earned that for us. FWIW I lived in Port Charlotte as a teenager with my grandparents. Would have stayed but the school systems then were a little behind, a fact that has changed dramatically. I entered the Army, became an 11B1P, came out and got into the NYSP. I've been a trooper, Bomb Dog Handler, Narco Investigator, Sergeant and Criminal Investigator. Just looking to get back to laid back life and away from other people's problems.I'll be bringing my three remaining girls, my wife and a plethora of items NYS has deemed too dangerous to possess. I live in the Finger Lakes area here so NOWHERE near NYC or the dreaded LI. We hate them here also. And to end the post in the great tradition of the NY HTF FUAC! |

As long as the OP has a freedom loving family like he says then IMO he is more than welcome. |

Maybe apply for work in SIU with one of the many Auto Insurance companies in the State or maybe with NICB. |

You would like Citrus County -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citrus_County,_Florida A job could be an issue, make sure you are moving to a job. Sarasota and south is also very nice. |

With your experience you should look into the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. |

If you love freedom and value your sanity stay away from SE FL: Broward and Miami Dade. The tree trimming rules alone will make your head explode… Head of the DNC lives in my fair town, Weston. She's f'ing crazy Yep. Don't get me wrong, I love FL, just not this part of it. Spent most of my military career in Jacksonville, loved it there. Would relocate to any other part of the state in a heartbeat. Work for DoD as a civilian now and positions are tight so a PCS will b e hard to come by. BT Have a friend that does PI work up in Jax, has more work than he can handle; lots of insurance fraud type case load. I keep threatening to through in the towel and move to an area with much lower home prices and just work part time, fish and shoot at leisure, etc. A semi retirement... |

I heard Texas is taking applications ![]() Alrighty then, I'll just let the NYC folks keep tipping the balance. in all honesty it not just ny'rs. the north eastern folks are just as bad del.MA..conn,,nj,,etc. but none the less. look 30-40 miles inland from the coast and you should find a happy medium. its what i did. 40 min drive to the coast,,no fsa and pretty rural and closer to my hobbies (hunting, fishing, hiking etc) plus no stupid rules/hoa's or neighbors from NY telling me i cant have chickens in my yard sorry had to pick on ya! lol |
