I am trying to decide which handgun course to take.  I have narrowed it down to 2 classes.  I am looking at Randy Cain's Tactical Handgun 101 or Costa's Handgun Elements Theory 1.  Costa's costs a little more for the class plus they want you to bring about 1,000 more rounds for the class.  This will be my first firearms course ever.  I am guessing that I probably cannot go wrong with either course.  I posted this over in training but cant seem to get a response from anyone so I figured I would post here as well seeing as both courses will be in FL.  Anyone have experience with either trainers?  Which do you think would be best for a first time class?

I have trained with Randy in the past.  He will make you a better shooter.  I have never trained with Costa and from what I have been told don't think I ever will either.  YMMV

I have trained with Costa, and he is an outstanding instructor and all arund good dude. he will make you a better shooter.

Costa is  damn good Instructor, ive trained with guys like Pat Rogers, kyle Lamb, Steve Fisher, and afew other High speed guys. I would Rank Costa up there with some of the top guys. Theres a Reason he sells out every single one of his classes, travels all over the country teaching classes to civilians, Military and LEO teams. He markets himself well in this day and age, even with ammo prices through the roof. And you see results.

Randy Cain, Ive barely heard of the guy, hes probably at a minimum a very competant instructor and you'll hopefully get your moneys worth, but i cant say for certain.
i can only speak for Costa. I have taken classes with Costa since 08 and its been intresting seeing his curriculum change over the years. I know a lot of folks love to hate Chris but usually cant back it up with anything tangible other than they heard or they watched some DVD one time ect.

Not sure where you are located, but you might spend a few minutes and check out www.bushidotactical.com. located in central Fl. Wade offers a bevy of training courses that are all top notch. I can not comment on the other courses/instructors, but you will not be disappointed training with bushido Tactical (IMHO).

I'm not going to repeat hear say.  But I trust the source of my info and that is what I have based my opinion on.  Like I said your mileage may vary.  That and I don't feel like getting into a pissing match with his fan boys.

Both have fans and haters (just like most instructors) My suggestion is take courses from as a few different instructors / schools. Each will bear fruit, take the best from each and make your own cocktail. You might want to check out some of the local talent, there are a few good ones out there (our school being one

I can understand and respect that, thanks.
