As governor, it seemed like he did a great job holding your state together despite the hurricanes and social problems.
Nationally he gets a bad rap. What's up with the dislike? |

Quoted:
I would vote for him if he ran, but I doubt he will. He was a good governor and was attentive to the needs of the state/people when called upon. Unfortunately, we have way too many liberals moving down here to make a difference. +1. He did a good job here. |

Florida is lost to the Democrats from here on out.
Don't kid yourself thinking everyone moving to Florida is someone whom you welcomed here on ARForum. Someone like you escaping the tyranny of their state and their governors and the stupid gun laws left behind. For everyone like that, there is another 1000 moving here to Florida who couldn't care less about our life styles and guns and values. Just remember where they are moving from and why? Taxes, weather? Retirement? They are used to restricted gun laws and higher taxes and liberal points of view. It wasn't that long ago Bush won by "hanging chads". and recounts and US Supreme Court rulings. In the past it wouldn't have been that close. The next two elections went to Mr. Obama. Add to the current voting base our share of the illegals who will soon become Legal, chances of a Bush or another Republican carrying this state is very remote if ever. I would also caution us all not to get to comfortable and smug with our current gun laws, gun shows, and CCW permits. They are all subject to change. I have seen it with my own two eyes in Colorado. Don't even think for a moment it couldn't happen here. |

I've lived in Florida most of my life and was here when Bush was governor and I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher! I'd just as soon vote for BHO as JB! (Fuck both of them!) Reasons, first he's a liar and a crook that never worked one day in his life! He made his fortune lending his NAME to investment groups that bought up failing Savings and Loans and then used federal government bailouts to make a fortune. They made a 20 to 1 profit to investment. He "invested" $1000 and was given almost $10 million in exchange!. Second JB vetoed the law that would have made the slower drivers stay to the right. Unbelievably, Florida has no such law and traffic here is a mad house. Ask anyone that's ever driven in any of the larger cites here in Florida. Especially when the tourists and Senile citizens hit the road! JB vetoed it because he QUOTE didn't want our streets becoming a racetrack UNQUOTE. That's fine for him to say while he's flying around the state in a PRIVATE but state owned jet! He's never had to contend with traffic that doesn't know or care what lane they're supposed to be in or with drivers that are out sight seeing at 35 MPH while the rest of us are trying to get to work! BUT the final straw for me was the Terry Schiavo affair. It turns out that JB is one of those "keep them life at any costs" type people that doesn't give a hoot about anyone else's wishes or their rights. TS was a woman that had been declared brain dead in something like 35 different court cases but her parents were determined to keep her alive on feeding tubes despite her husband's (her LEGAL guardian) wishes and the advice of EVERY doctor that had examined her AND the rulings in over 30 different court cases. But FINALLY the appeals had all run out and the state supreme courts ruled in her husband's favor and they were going to disconnect her feeding tubes but then JB sent ARMED state police into the hospital and they barricaded it and would not allow any patients, doctors or nurses or anyone else in or out of the hospital because they MIGHT disconnect TS's feeding tubes. Not only did he deny the court's and TS's guardian's wishes from being carried out but he also denied medical care to every person that was turned away from the hospital while it was under siege by his goons!
I'm sorry but no matter what your position is on keeping people alive artificially, NO ONE should have the right to overrule a person's LEGAL medical guardian, their doctors or rulings from the courts! So I don't want to hear anyone's opinions of assisted suicides, death by starvation or any of the other opinions! This is just my view of JB and why I would NEVER, ever, EVER support him! FWIW less than a year later TS died of other causes and at her autopsy they said her brain had shrucken to the size of a grape that she was absolutely brain dead and had been for many years. (She was on total life support for over seven years while her case wound through the courts.) But as far as I'm concerned JB is a greedy, no talent opportunist with no regard for the rights of the citizens of this state! Further he's willing to resort to the illegal use of armed agents to enforce his personal wishes despite laws passed by the Florida legislator and/or the lawful wishes of family members who ARE the legal guardians of their disabled spouses. And further, he's also willing to overrule multiple courts and their judges and numerous medical experts in doing so, including the state supreme court!. JB has absolutely ZERO qualifications to hold ANY political office! The ONLY reason that he's being talked about now is that the Republican party is DESPERATE to capture at least some of the Hispanic vote and JB's wife is from Columbia so they HOPE that that will make him attractive to the Hispanic voters. Personally, I don't think any Hispanic voter would be dumb enough to for a candidate just because his wife is Hispanic! They're looking for a lot more commitment than that! AND given JB's voting record, I don't think that any Hispanic voter would ever vote for him! The fact, that JB is even being considered by the Republican party shows what disarrary they're in and how DESPERATE they are! |

Rubio may very well be the only candidate that could carry Florida. Otherwise the sate will be lost to the Democrats forever! Yup, forever. Without the electoral votes in Florida, I can't see a Republican becoming The President in my life time.
Numbers just don't add up. |

Do you think there will be a shortage of votes come next election? The illegals who can't vote now WILL. There will be more gays and gay supporters in the state by 2016, and that is a few more votes. Median age in Florida is dropping. It is no longer The God's Waiting room. I believe in Brandon Florida median age dropped 12 years in only 12 years. As the older folks die off, they are being replaced by younger and more liberal voters. Just look at the new school buildings being built all around the state. We are becoming younger every day. They'll come up with more than 74,000 votes next time. As a matter of fact they will come up with as many as they need. The very "brilliant campaign they ran is precisely why us the Republicans, Conservatives are perceived as caveman. Technology, Twitter, Facebook evades us. That is too much for our feeble minds. I doubt there will be any more Hispanic or youth votes in 2016 than there were in 2012. I am a staunch conservative and a Republican. If we don't change our ways, and our perception by others are no better than the one portrayed by Rush and Hannity and Savage.....we will do no better than we have! I hope I am wrong. You will have MORE people ( not less) with their hands out in November 2016. Those folks always vote for the Democrats. Their plan for America IS working. For them! |

It's not going to happen! |

I like Jeb Bush.
I don't care what his last name is. I like his politics, his ability to articulate his views. He is affable, intelligent and a Floridian! It doesn't hurt that he has a Hispanic wife. NO Republican can be elected to The White House if they can't carry Florida. Legalizing thousands if not millions of illegal aliens is not very helpful to Republican candidates in a state that has been struggling for the last three or four elections to help the Republican camp. |

For them! I don't know if this stat was true or not but, I heard it on one of the conservative radio shows. They said that around 3 million registered republican voters did not even vote. Any merit to that and would that have made a difference in the grand scheme of things? |

That may very well be true regarding the 2008 elections.. I doubt 3 million Republicans sat the last election out. if they did.....then there is nothing else we can do to change the course of history. If NOT electing Obama did not motivate the Republicans to VOTE, I can't think of anything else that would.
They say, we always get the government we deserve. Boy...Did we deserve this one.. |
