Hey guys,
I live near Pompano and am looking for a few things. 1. A reputable Gunsmith (I need a 14.5' barrel pinned) 2. Does anyone know of a machine shop that rents time? A buddy has one near him that will allow you to use their CNC, lathe, press... 3. A range where you can plink. I was told of one in Miami, but I could never confirm it. 4. A recommended indoor range that allows .223. I am lees than please with the only one I know around here; they were taking advantage of customers that did not know better. Thanks for all the help I have already received from here. |

not had any trouble with rifle ammo at National Armory on Atlantic, not sure if you have shot there. its a little pricey compared to some of the others but as long as you don't shoot Armor Piercing or Tracers/Incendiary you can pretty much shoot whatever caliber as they rent a .50bmg there. , they did not have any rapid fire restrictions last I was there either, but its been a couple months now. planning to go soon. A lot of the others don't allow steel case or steel core which eliminates me from wanting to shoot there. Now buying guns at National is hit or miss. the prices can be good to nuts. that was before all this craziness of the last few months.
simple matter is, most ranges in Florida Flat out suck. So many stupid rules that take the fun out, or they make you buy everything there and charge a arm and leg for everything. only heard of one or two over the entire state that get beaming good stuff said about it. None of them are on this end of the state... range questions come up all the time, i think we need a sticky with the pros and cons of each range. not angry opinions but mainly facts on the do's and don'ts allowed at each. statewide would be nice, with a map or address link etc.. I think there was something like that, but maybe in the archive now or something. I know ive not been to one in Florida that lets you do all the cool stuff you see on the shooting tv shows, or place you see people shooting on youtube. Were called the gunshine state, but when it comes to practicing at more than paper and more than 25 yards its more like the gunsuck... maybe im the only one feels that way, |

isnt also no steel case ammo either?
Gun world (on Powerline south of SW 10th)has a good smith there and allows your own ( no steel core or reloads) .223/5.56 another smith choice and a good one is Richard at GunTech yes.. but other wise they are pretty cool.. I like it there.. as they are open longer they are loosening up and seeing what works and doesn't work. If you reload, do not wait till the end of your session to grab your brass, they sweep the floor a lot.. |
