I'm from RI. I'm a hardcore saltwater fisherman, a gun owner, and a conservative. I vote in every election. I've enjoyed visiting your state many times, and caught some great fish there. I'm 41 years old, and if I never see another snowflake again, I can die happy.

Anyway, RI is about to try and legislate me into a felon, for merely owning personal property. Guns and magazines...
From what I've read, the new laws, if enacted, will go in affect on July 1. If it comes to pass, I'll be a Floridian come July 2...
I'm not wealthy, and will need a job immediately, as well as a place to live. ( With my dog) I think it'll be worth sacraficing financially for awhile, to gain some of the freedoms I've never had here in New England...
I served in the Army at Ft Hood, and Ft Bliss, in Tx. My parents retired to SC, my Mom is no longer with us, but my Dad lives there still. I love the South, and the friendly, respectful nature of Southerners. I've planned to live in Fla after retirement, since I first visited. Sadly, my local .Gov may push me out sooner.
I need your help. I need a job, and a dogfriendly place to live, basically as soon as I arrive.
I'm a white Irish -American (read WHITE AS HELL) carpenter. If I gotta work outside, in Fla, I'll likely sizzle up like a slice of bacon, but I'm willing to give it a shot.
I've got friends between Melbourne,Sebastian, and Titusville.and I LOVE Sebastian Inlet!  I'd like to live in a Rural area, within a half hour of the coast.

I'd really appreciate a headsup from anyone who hears about a construction job, or a decent rental house in the next couple months....
I plan to stay and fight here in RI to try and defeat the newly proposed infringements but I hate RI, and picture myself in Fla sooner or larer anyways, so if you hear about anything, please, kindly, let me know...

ps. What you'll get in return? A solid conservative voter, who never misses an election. A pretty damned great fisherman who always remembers his friends. A brother.

Heres the very first fish I ever caught in Fla...

As long as you're not from NY or NJ, you're welcome.

You are welcome to come on down, but make sure nobody is following you.  FL is changing politically because so many NE residents want to move here for one reason or another but then they want to make it like it was 'back home.'

Best of luck with the job and housing search!

Welcome...We could always use some more conservatives  to balance out the other yanks that come this way.

Just remember this simple rule when looking for a job, "we don't care how you did it up north" and you should be alright.

Thanks for your Service!  It makes me sick just thinking about the restrictions some States place on our law abiding citizens - Good luck in your quest.

The Florida construction industry has been at a standstill since 2007.

The good news is that it is finally starting to move again.

The bad news is that it's in Orlando.

Orlando sucks.

Do some research on Lake Nona Medical City, it's the closest thing we have to a boomtown.

Pulte Homes also has some irons in the fire and may be worth looking into.

The Florida Hospital chain is expanding.  Hospitals in general seem to be gearing up for the windfall of tax dollars that Obamacare will bring their way. Combined with our aging population, they seem to be recession-proof in FL.

Good luck, be prepared to "fly the FL flag"and you'll be welcomed with open arms. Try to tell us how great it is "back home" and we'll tell you to "go home"

If you want some good snook fishing, check out the Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. They're so thick in some areas that you can almost grab them off a dock. Enjoy!

Congratulations on being the sort of man who puts freedom at the top of his personal list.

Welcome to Florida and good luck.

First, this is not the South, it's Florida. If you want South try Alabama, Georgia or Tenn.
Just too many Yanks here to be a friendly place. If you can get past that it's a really nice place to live.

Welcome, we need more people like you here, you can find some nice people.
Just be very careful when driving, some real asshats.
Now repeate after me, I hate Obozo, I hate Obozo, I hate Obozo.

Hell! Why wait?  It sounds like you'll fit right in. If I were you, I'd move to Fla now and never look back!  (I moved back here from Va so I have done it).

Yes, construction is picking up in Orlando area and not just Lake Nona/ UCF Medical city. I noticed several new constructions sites in my area today. Also high rail is coming soon and they'll need lots of workers.  Jobs are available BUT Fla jobs will never pay as much as jobs in the NE.  It's just part of the trade off that you get along with lower cost of living, lower taxes. better weather and more freedom. The decision is up to you.
