There's not going to be any bans..... Get over that. He doesn't have control to do anything he wants.
The economy, & jobs are more important.  You eliminate ammo & guns & there's millions out of work & millions more in lost $.

He didn't win based on any polices. He won because he catered to blacks, Hispanics  The rep's always had trouble connecting to these groups. That is where he focused.  The Spanish news programs this monring, ALL O cheering, even the Spanish news casters were giddy.

While that sorry ass can't do just anything he wants just remember he now holds the real key to this Nation's future.

He, and HE alone can nominate to the USC............and by that very act he can cast his legacy far, far down the road..........and that's something that we all ought to fear a lot more than job unavailability or immediate economic issues...........without our Constitution rightfully interpreted we will have lost the Republic!

Oh yeah, do you all now understand just why it was that the framers did NOT compose our Republic with universal sufferage?

We shall see. Personally there's a vast amount of "gonna take my guns" paranoia going around the gun community. Has for years.
Something I noticed since I began to shoot 4 years ago.

Since the stupid brainwashed public has spoken, not much anyone can do about it now if it does happen.

The Bush Administration declared a permanent ban today on almost all foreign-made semiautomatic assault rifles. Imports of the weapons have been suspended since spring.

An excerpt from a 1989 news article.... We (my dad, as I was just a teenager) never thought we'd see that. Especially from a republican administration.

No paranoia from me.... Just humbleness...I've learned in life not to say something won't ever happen.

Well he's obviously stated he wants to start up the assualt weapons ban again. I think he'll be able to pass that one, I just hope there's grandfathering in again. I do find it hard to believe he could have a semi-auto ban or anything major like that passed.

He had to play it safe......if he tried during his first four years it would have been political suicide....... Nothing to hold him back now, he will try to get as much done politically before his last term is over........you can bet your ass he will try for a ban now....guaranteed

I truly hope so. I copied this from some random website but is essentually the same rumor I heard hopefully BS.

"sources tell me California Senator and longtime gun-hater Dianne Feinstein's legal staff held meetings on Friday with FTB/ATF legal staff to discuss a new "Assault Weapons Ban" Madame Feinstein would be looking to push through Congress if President Obama wins reelection.

This same "pretty good intelligence" says the items that would lead to a ban would ban pistol grips and "high-capacity" magazines, eliminate any grandfathering and ban sales of "weapons in possession".

Also the OP is apparently my best friend lol

Law makers tend to want a lot of stuff but rarely ever get it,  even with prohibition it wasn't illegal to consume alcohol just to make or sell it.

disclaimer: Im not a lawyer im sure there is more to this than i know.

in any case the republicans still have the majority in the house by a lot, so its highly doubtful that anything would be passed for the next 2 years.

Calm down about the gun ban nonsense, guys.  A few thoughts:

(a) Feinstein puts out this garbage every year, and makes big publicity out of it (because it rallies donations).  Nothing has changed in the last week besides a president who doesn't have to run for election any more.

(b) Such a bill has to pass the house and senate and then go to the pres.  The pres saying he would pass such a bill if it gets to his desk is not the same as it getting there.

(c) Even if it were going to happen, it's not going to happen any time soon.  Calm the heck down.  The bill isn't even written yet, and is not on any agenda to be heard by either group.  The house, for example, is only scheduled to be in session for 16 days before the end of the year.  While they are in session, I predict there is going to be a great deal of scrutiny on how to avoid the 1/1/2013 'fiscal cliff' and several other pressing matters.  There's no such thing as a sure thing, but I would bet big bucks this won't even be an issue any time soon.  Why rush?  It would be a lot better to wait for the next mass gunman craze and push it then, wouldn't it?

(d) For those of you saying "I just hope it has grandfathering again" - It comes across to me like "I don't care if my children and their children get screwed, as long as I get to keep my toys."  Talk about fatalistic and selfish.  Screw that.  I'll take an internet commando thumping his chest stating "I'll shoot them before they can take my AR-15" over that nonsense.  I hope they don't grandfather anything.  I hope they try to enlist police officers to go door-to-door and collect our weapons.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this.  But that's not how its going to work.    It will be just like most other gun grabs the world has seen. They will give  us till such & such a date to turn them in after that date , if they have not been turned over then  WE are the criminal.

No argument from me - you're preaching to the choir.  Notice the word "hope" .  If we are the criminals, then they either (a) they knowingly let us live in our criminal status, figuring that a traffic stop or random visit will uncover the offending device, or (b) they come round them up.  There's not a lot of leeway between the two.  The first approach guarantees a generational decline of support - just like those families we read about every day who turn in grandpa's machinegun that he brought back from WWII .

If we want to do a history lesson of global gun bans, we can find a lot of inconsistencies in your "this is the way it's going to be" story, though.  Sometimes they do knock on doors, sometimes they just assume everyone will turn them in.  In general, the military and law enforcement do not have a record of successfully disarming significant groups of people at gunpoint (unless they are pretty subserviant to start with, which we Americans are not).  We will not go quietly, so I suspect they will not bring bans loudly.  As stated elsewhere, if gun owners were as violent as gun banners suggest, there would be no more gun banners.  We're generally peaceful, law abiding citizens.  We want to be left alone, and we'll generally avoid problems if given that option.  I suspect the government will rely on this "get along" decency to our demise, unfortunately.

I think we are closer to being subdued by the Gov than ever before. The only

thing in their way to totalitarianism is the weaponry we possess. I have no doubt

that they want to collect them all. They have little time left to do it. Once the

we go over the cliff and crash it could be too late.

Right now we have our lives to live and jobs to go to. Once the jobs are

gone they will not be able to take them away and we would go on the offensive

as we would have nothing to lose. Right now we have a lot to lose and they

know it.

I should have been more specific.  Gun grabs in modern times.  Times of war would not really be the case either.  You can take England and Australia as a good example of what's to come, if and when it comes. The only thing I can foresee changing things in this country now would be a Military coup.  Two Divisions walk into Washington arrest the whole lot of them for crimes and imprision them ALL.  For all I care they can put them ALL in front of a firing sqwad.

Like I've said in other posts.... We've got the numbers now. More 'Assault Rifles'  out there then in 89 & 94 when we've had bans & restrictions.... Tons of these rifles are in the hands of law abiding people. They know this.

We also have a war going on and shit ton of current and former .mil guys that own these weapons personally.

Turn them in, confiscate? This country would see civil disobedience like it's never seen it before.

Besides all of that, think about the number of jobs lost & businesses suffer and fold in this industry. Not that they give a shit... but that would just push this country that much more closer to falling off that cliff.

I know too many former .mil and LEOs that would fight, and a lot of current ones who wouldn't fight their own people.  The police chief in my city has told me that an armed populace is what keeps the government in check.  We might all be fucked here in the panhandle if civil war were to break out.  The SF, Rangers, and Air Force SOCOM in the area would demolish any uprising if it came to be.
