| Has anyone taken the concealed weapons class at the Florida Gun Shows? One is in Orlando tomorrow and I'm wondering if it's worth it. It's a 2 hour class that states I will walk out of there with everything I need to submit for a permit. How do they handle the live fire requirement? Thanks all. |
| It will meet the minimum requirements for the state. If it is a Sun Coast show you will get to shoot 2 rounds out of a 22short inside of a travel trailer. During the 2 hour class you will fill out your forms. If you want to learn more than take a different course. |
| I did the CC class at the Sucoast show in Tampa. They walk you through the paperwork and take the passport photo and fingerprints there. We had to drive offsite to a range to fire one round out of a double action revolver. The class was a joke, but it fulfilled all of the requirements to get your licence. |
| I did it at a gun show in south florida years and years ago. pretty basic but they get everything done there for you which is nice. all you will need to do after is drop the check in the mail with all your documents and then wait. My GF will be taking the class tomorrow at 11 at the same show. |

Fingerprints have to be done by a law enforcement agency or the Dept. of Agriculture, so how does that work at a gun show? 790.06
(5) The applicant shall submit to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services: (c) A full set of fingerprints of the applicant administered by a law enforcement agency or the Division of Licensing of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. And for the application: You must submit a complete and legible set of fingerprints on the FINGERPRINT CARD enclosed or by ELECTRONIC SCAN (see
next page for information). Your fingerprints must be taken at a LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY**. |

Class is entertaining and meets the state requirements, do buy Gutmachers book - http://www.floridafirearmslaw.com/and read it cover to cover.

As far as my class, it and the fingerprints, photo, and shooting part were done by a deputy sheriff. Then you dropped the provided paperwork and a check in the mail to DACS. 2 weeks after they got it, it was back. |

I did it at the show in Tampa, had my permit in about a month. The class is seriously lame but does fulfill requirements. The guy running it will answer every stupid question you have, so that may be a bonus. I did mine several years ago there as well. If you're already proficient with a sidearm it's quick and easy. You get everything done there and you're ready to go. |
