I got my water/sewer/electricity bill yesterday. They are saying I used 34,000 gallons of water from 9/1-10/5. 34,000 gallons !!!!!!!!!. I called them and and they read me my usage amounts per day.
Sunday September 25th 5,000 gallons. Next three days ( 26th 27th 28th) normal usage. The next 5 days (Sep29th-Oct3rd) 5,000 each day. I was completely out of the state of Florida from Wednesday September 28th to October 4th and since my return consumption has been normal. I called twice and spoke to 2 separate people, the 2nd explained that she put in a pro rate form for me asking to have to taken off of the next bill but I wont know about that for another week. I asked what other steps I could take if the pro rate is not approved and she said I was basically shit out of luck. I checked all my surrounding neighbors backyards and no one had a pool put in since I left. The house ( I'm a renter ) has no leaks inside and no sub-slab as far as I or the Realtor knows about. The lady on the phone said because I had abnormal usage for 1 day followed by 3 normal days followed by 5 abnormal days makes it seem like it might be my fault and they have no way to prove where the water went, therefore the pro rate might get denied. I'm just livid right now and absolutely don't want to come out of pocket an extra $250 for 32,000 gallons of water. What should I do? eta.... last month I used 4000 gallons and last year this month I used 2000 gallons. 34,000 gallons
