Sorry if this has been covered before, but I've looked into it a bit and wanted your guys input.
What's the best range, in your opinion, in the miami/hollywood area, that lets you use your own ammo?
I'm looking at Florida Gun Center, but wanted to know what you guys think.

In my opinion you really can't put Miami and Hollywood in the same area when it comes to ranges. If you're principally located in Miami-Dade County you have Trail Glades, Pop's, and Henry's for outdoor ranges. Trail Glades if you want a nice, orderly, county-run facility with lots of lanes and lots of rules. Henry's if you want a simple, backyard-style range with few lanes and few rules. Pop's comes in somewhere in-between but I have heard some "weird" things regarding ownership and atmosphere there so YMMV. Ace's, FGC, and Lou's (if it's still there) for indoor ranges. There's a new indoor shooting range in the Country Walk area by the Tamiami Airport opening in December as well. Stonehart is the name, I believe. They're all fairly similar. Ace's is on the expensive side and a LOT of yahoo's and unsafe clowns rolling around there. VERY crowded at certain times as well. FGC has decent atmosphere and pricing.

As for Broward, you have Markham Park (county-run facility like Trail Glades) and Hollywood Rifle and Pistol Club for outdoor shooting. Indoor facilities abound as listed by the previous poster. Really just depends what's closer to you geographically and which atmosphere/pricing structure you like the best. i'd experiment with a couple of them and see which one suits you best. As the weather in South Florida cools over the next few months, the outdoor ranges become more attractive for some.

Hope this helps...

BountyXP is right, you really can't look at Miami and Hollywood ranges as being in the same area.

FGC is a good indoor pistol only range. Not too crowded on weekdays. Parking is a problem if too many people are there. Sometimes they close for LEO only range hours, so call them before you drive over. They do monitor the range from inside the store. I saw a guy get chewed out for unsafe handling. No restrictions other than nothing bigger than .50 cal. Pistol caliber rifles should be GTG.

Trail glades got way better after the remodel. Now target positions are numbered, so no more people shooting other people's targets. Being there on a hot day sucks. The giant Everglades bugs are incredibly annoying. All ammo is good as long as it's less than .50 BMG. It's a new rule since the reopening.  I just wish they would add brass catching screens to the rifle tables like they did for the pistol side.

for indoor FGC is always good, good price usually empty on weekdays, Pembroke gun range is also good and has less rules but crowded on weekdays.

Recently, I found Pembroke Gun & Range to be some of the nicest least "attitude-ish" people I've EVER encountered running a range.

Stay safe

I went to Marham on father's day 2 years ago and the range guy was a comlete asshole about my Spike's tactical SBR. First, he started with a crappy attituide about my form 1, which i showed him with no hesitation. Then he got hung up on the color filled selective fire selector markings. I explained that is how they are sold and that it was semi only. That took 10 minutes. Then he stood over me and watched my every move. It was so bad that my 15 year old did not want to shoot at all. There were no safety issues and I did not give him attitude (I was determined not to let him ruin my father's day and cooperated with him fully). The guy was a complete dipshit and I will never go back to that shithole again.

That's the midget SEAL/sniper with the leg brace, right ?  He's the Union steward, the range can't fire him no matter how many complaints he gets.  If he gives you crap, ask to speak to either of the rangemasters.  They'll send him off to count lightbulbs or broken clays or something.

i dont like anything much about bass pro range.   you have to check in at the front door and lock all cases with their locks or container which they unlock at the range. not been to the one in Miami though. you have to sit down to shoot rifle, and they are picky on what ammo you shoot, they did the magnet test on all my rifle ammo, made me buy ammo they sold if i wanted to shoot 8mm or 7.62x39   i had surplus 8mm, but the 7.62 i had norinco, wolf, and Sellier & Bellot fmj and soft point.  maybe things have changed, but i shot there once and dont think i would do it again.    for handgun maybe its less of a pain.

for broward indoor at the moment i like Revere, Arizona.   gonna check out national armory, and pembroke shooting center as i got some free lane rental cards as a gift. just a drive for me

Try Big Al's.  You can use your own ammo, range fee is a reasonable flat rate (last time I checked), and they have a lot of lanes so there's usually no wait.

I am going to markham tomorrow, I go once in awhile to Western Arms but that is off I575 East of University Drive on the South Side after Carmax and you need a CWP to shoot there.
