This happened at the range Friday.

It happened after the following:
20 rounds test fired in field the week prior.
30 rounds at 25yrds
30 rounds at 50 yards
Didn't notice anything odd on the shoot-n-c targets.
We did some 3-gun practice at 15 yards and on the last mag we noticed this as we are pasting.

The upper is from a reputable manufacturer. I don't have it in my possession to check the twist. Could it be bad ammo, poor break in practice or something wrong with barrel?

Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen with Silver Bear .223 out of my 16" barrel but no issue at all out of my 7.5".  Ammo used in yours?

I'll have to go with the ammo 1st then.  There's no telling were GA gets their components from.  The carbine could have been shooting like that all along but at greater range the bullets might have been missing the target all together.  I'll base that on what looks like the other shots on the target were good hits.  Try getting a box or two of factory ammo shoot 20 rnds at say  50 yards slow fire.  Then make sure you have 20 holes and no key holes.

ETA I take it its their 55 grn ammo.

Turns out this batch of bullets were made using fast made projectiles during the Obummer panic! Justin@GA was very apologetic and is going to swap me this used can for a brand new can at the Lakeland Gun Show this weekend!
That is customer service!!!

Three Cheers for Georgia Arms!

ps. If you see a short fat fellow with many GA ammo cans tucked all over his person @ the Lakeland Show most likely that will be me!

Thanks for your help,

Did they tell you what batch/lot numbers that are affected by the "Fast made projectiles"? Maybe other members could benefit from this knowledge.

Please let us know what rifling your weapon has, I am curious. Also is this the only ammo you have tried in this weapon ?? Could be more than just ammo problems.
