| I drove by right after it happened and saw the police, EMS, and news out front. I almost went there to shoot this afternoon and would very possibly have been there when it happened if I had. I'm strongly considering other options for range practice other than a public range that rents weapons from now on. I just don't want to be there when the next one goes down. And who knows if the next person will decide to take out a few other people with him/her before they turn it on themselves. Sad day. |

Tampa Trib is saying this morning that he left a suicide note on his cell phone.What happened to the law suite aganist SS from when the woman shot her son and then herself?
I thought SS stopped renting handguns because of this, I was also thinking on going by SS Tampa this weekend, think I will consider someplace else that does not rent handguns. |

Gun rentals are a valuable resource to those who want to try as many guns as possible before making a purchasing decision. Gun rentals allow those who may not be able to immediately afford a firearm of their own to participate in shooting. Gun rentals are the means by which many new devotees become involved in shooting and help to perpetuate the gun culture. The ability to walk into a shooting range and rent a gun represents freedom. I hate seeing sissy, anti-gun, crap here. When I see that sort of shit on a firearms enthusiasts board this image comes to mind.

I'm sorry if my comment is anti-gun. I didn't think it was, but perhaps I need to think about this a bit more. There were a few suicides at rental ranges back up in the Cincinnati area when I lived up there. The ranges that rented guns instituted a policy that no one could rent a weapon if they were alone. This seemed to work as quite a deterrent. Of course, that's another rule. The ability to rent something out to try it first is a great benefit of a rental range. I can see wanting to do this very thing myself and not wanting to have to bother with having someone else with me to do it. I don't have the answer here. I'm just saying that this is making me strongly consider joining a member range. |

QFT As is their habit, I believe that Shoot Straight will sell us out again at the drop of a hat and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if they came out against gun rentals in the media or proposed some self serving crap to the effect that only "members" should be allowed to shoot at public ranges. I avoid them for that reason. In regards to our gun rights, they are IMO, Quislings and Zumbos; why spend a dime with them? |

Got any facts to back that up  You might want to remember the 2 cops that were killed at a range not that long ago by some dip shit. Lets not forget about the last time one of these nuts had taken hostages at the Shooting Sports in Tampa. While the shooter was the only one killed that could have gone very bad very fast. These people look for a place that makes it easy for them. I'm not saying don't go to any of these ranges. I'am saying pay close attention while your there though always have one loaded mag
