Hello folks,
Last weekend we went to the Fort Lauderdale gun show and i don't think i will go back in a long time. I prefer the one in Miami, since its 2 minutes way from my house and it is much bigger. So I was talking to my wife and friends about how nice it would be to get away from the usual routine and how we should take a trip somewhere and go to a big show. A little bit of google searching and i saw that the gun show in Lakeland, FL, hosted by The Lakeland Rifle and Pistol Club was one of the biggest and best in Fl. I called today and they are gonna have over 500 tables for April. That sounds good, maybe we will find some good deals, but we get to get away from the Miami routine and see something a little different. I was wondering if you guys were familiar with this particular show and could give me some feedback. Also, if you know of any cool things to do around Lakeland, or perhaps things / places to stay away from. We would get there Friday night, go to the show Saturday, and do something in the morning to drive back in the afternoon. |

That is a show very much worth going to. You will see a lot of collections, high dollar, low dollar and in between and some very intersting items. no 2 tables are alike. Twice a year and I could not recommend it more.
I have made some very exceptional buys. Just know what you want and what it is worth. |

There a different shows at Lakeland.
The best shows are the ones put on by the Lakeland gun club which is 3 times a year (Jan, April, Sept). The Jan is the best of the 3. If I recall correctly, the April one sucks because it is the same as the show in Tampa, but since you are wanting to travel you could go Friday and gamble at the Hard Rock, see the show in Tampa on Saturday and gamble more Saturday nigh then head home after checking out the Lakeland show on Sunday. |

The one thing I found at the Ft Lauderdale show that was better than the Miami show was the ammo selection. Other than that, it was very crowded on Sunday and the isles were way too small. |

I also live 2 mins. away from the dade county gun show, that being said I wont even waste the money on the entrance fee anymore. the only cheap things on sale is the beef jerky and t-shirts. I don't disagree. A lot of times I can get better deals on guns and accessories locally or online, but I like going because at the shows I get to see and compare. I took my wife to fort lauderdale so she could pick a carry gun. Being able to see almost everything available, we were able to narrow it down to a few. A lot of times I go to the show knowing I probably won't buy anything, but it's a learning experience. |
| I'll definitely have to check out the Lakeland gun show if I have some cash laying around that needs some spending lol. I don't much care for the Ft. Lauderdale gun show for the main reason that if you want to buy a firearm, even long guns, you have to wait 3 days because of some law in that county. I did get a fairly good deal on some .223 ammo though. |
| Sounds like it's time for an ARFCOM Fla. gun Show. Mostly AR related, with Ammo and trng. classes. I go to FDIC (Fire dept. Instructors Confrence) in Indy. there they have apparatus, eqiupment and gear for sale. At the same time there are trng. classes previous to the show. Just an idea. |
