I know this is a long shot, but here goes anyway. I'm graduating from a training program in early September and taking 2 weeks of leave afterwards, and since i was born and raised in Central FL(Merritt Isl) I wanna take a week of that time and go down the Keys(Summerland/BigPine area)
Looking for a rental for the 6th-11th. Anybody know where to start looking? Ive found a few but their $2k/wk+ and I know i can find em cheaper cuz my dad used to have a house in Summerland. Thanks, Randy |

Thanks, Randy Are you dead set on Big Pine/Summerland area? Key West NAS MWR has some nice trailers and town houses at Trumbo Point on Key West. Our Group CO (Colonel, O6) and Commanding General (two star) stay in them when they come to visit and I've never heard a complaint. They could swing staying in much nicer places but that's where they choose to stay. I'd be willing to bet it would be around 1/4 of the cost of staying anywhere else too. I want to say the bill is around $500 a week, but I can't remember for sure. It may be rank based also, lower your rank the cheaper it is. ETA: 305-293-5000 is their phone number. No price info on websit but reservations can be made 6 months in advance. I would guess in Sep you wouldn't have much trouble getting one. Kids are back in school and the tourist rush doesn't start until late Oct. |

Probably more expensive because it's near Labor Day weekend.
