| Hello sunshiners! Planning a trip to South Florida in May (ish). Where is a good shop/range to spend an afternoon playing with new toys, drinking coffee, and generally hanging out? I'll be staying in Boca, but open to the entire Miami metro. Thanks, brethren |

You'll have to leave the City - incorporated and unincorporated.
I'm not sure about hanging out and having a cup of coffee, but here are a few that are close: Gun Tech - Pompano or Ft. Lauderdale (never been to that one) Only the Best - Pompano Lee's Guns - Margate Bass Pro - Ft. Lauderdale (lunch and things to do with the family in that area if they are joining you.) Check the West Palm Beach Gun Show schedule for the time you are in town. Outside of guns there is Mizner Park for dinner and people watching or East Atlantic in Delray Beach. The beaches along A1A are nice; Spanish River Park, Red Reef (if you snorkel) the Pavilion at Palmetto and A1A, and South Inlet at Camino Real and A1A. For shopping try Town Center Mall west of I-95 on Glades Rd. The Radisson Bridge Hotel on Camino Real has a nice outdoor view of the inlet, Boca Resort and Club and Lake Boca for breakfast. Deerfield Pier is a short drive south (2-3 miles) on A1A and has a lot to do. Enjoy |
| let me start off by saying to head south into Broward. For nice Class III stop by Onlythebest in Pompano (no range) , for a good chat and some charachters head to Lee's Pawn in Margate then to Guntech in Lauderdale(weekdays only on both ,no range) To rent and shoot head to Arizona Gun range , they have a nice selection of guns for sale and rent and an awesome selection of knives. a Little further south there are a few other good stores and indoor ranges IPS comes to mind in Hollywood but i cant speak of the others as I dont use them. I will HIGHLY recomedn staying out of all Palm Beach county shops ( I do hear Palm Beach shooting center a little north of Boca is getting better) as most are rip offs with Delray Shooting Center leading their way, but they do have class III to rent to shoot just bring your Full wallet and thick skin as they arent the most friendly of people unless they know you. PM me if you need any other suggestions or help while down here.. |

Any special ordinances restricting CCW or other stupidity? |

No, but I guess it depends on your definition of weird stuff. There just are not any gun stores in the City or west of the City.
You'll find Boca to be a nice place. Where are you staying? (IM me if you want). Now weird stuff could be described as no big McDonalds signs, billboards or outdoor car dealerships. There are manicured medians, pink and teal buildings (although not so much the norm these days), but some would argue that is what keeps the majority of the place nice. If you want a laugh, look around a high school parking lot and try to determine the teachers parking area from the students. There are no City restrictions on CCW to be concerned with, just normal State Laws apply. |
