I'm looking to get some steel targets for calibers up to 7.62. Anyone know of a good source? I'm in the Melbourne area. If I could get some good steel cut I would make my own stands. Also would travel to pick them up to save shipping.

Personally, I would stick with the folks who do it for a living rather than pick up something cut locally.  I've have very good luck with MGM steel targets and his prices include shipping.  I also have targets from Action Target, LV Steel Targets, and Safe Direction, all high quality rifle-grade targets.  You can't go wrong with any of them.

For on the cheap use the plates under the railroad tracks.  Get the ones they leave behind when they lay new tracks of course.  Weld up the holes or put bolts in them.  I have made many targets out of these that get beat on a lot with 7.62 and 30.06.  They hold up good as long as you keep them out at 100yards and beyond.  For reactive targets weld  the plates on top of a coil spring

I picked up some AR500(?) from wideners. .308 hasn't dented it yet.

I'm using the old flywheel out of my GTO. It works for the moment, but I'd like to find a local place in the Melbourne area to cut me some targets as well.
