I've been after my mother for about 5 years about a bean recipe she made while I was growing up. She gave me a few and they aren't the ones I was thinking of. I came across a "black eyed peas and ham" recipe and that was what I was thinking of. So I got back with her and she gave me general directions. She is a good cook but the bad thing is she doesn't use directions much. Just one of those who just "know" how much to add. So last week my wife got a bag of black eyed peas and I told her that's not going to be enough, we have 4 kids. When the kids were little it was easy to cook for them but now that the three oldest, who are boys, are almost teenagers, it's getting a little harder. More so in the quantity than quality, lol.

Anyway, last night I put four bags of black eyed peas in a pot to soak. Two didn't seem like enough and neither did three. Four was all I had.......now I have the biggest pot we own on the stove with four pounds of beans and four pounds of ham hocks. I hope they come out OK 'cause we are going to be eating them awhile it looks like.

OK, all you black eye pea fans I have the recipie for BEP and ham.
2 bags, washed peas, enough ham to satisfy your apitite, fill with enough water,
2 large onions cut up, 1/2 stick butter, a couple small taters cut up for a starchy filler
one clove of garlic smashed and a couple shakes from your favorite
(mine is lousiana only because it has a flavor not just hotness)
hot pepper sauce. Now for the blasphmy, put on stove top in pressure cooker
set on med high and time for about 15 minutes, then eat up
I know how to slow cook but if time is a factor well............that's
how that hot chick RR that does 30 minute meals would do it.
If you cook it to long it is BEP mush. Keep the Bud cold it will be
one of those nights, BK whopper and a Bud light
I need coffee
