of Jacksonville... wth happened to their customer service...

I've bought a few guns from them over the years, every time I'm in town I stop by, a couple of the guys there even recognize me by now..
but lately(last year or so) they're all running around all "stressed" out and makes you feel like your bugging them if you dare ask about anything.. I realize that the volume of sales have gone up and the amount of people dropping by the store probably have tripled, but thats no excuse if you ask me...

Last week I stopped by to ask about the acr, I asked if there was any way of pre-order or get on a list when they get a shipment.. nope, not a chance.. first come first serve.. no chance for a heads up, nada...(now go away)

Today I gave them a call to get a quote(on a acr), since the release date/pricing has been released and all... before I could even ask my question, the person on the other end started "snickering" and told me "the acr has been scheduled for delivery for years now"  I told him that the gun was revealed at the shot show, and steeled for release on march 1... he then told me "huh.. yeah, we will see" (as in fat chance buddy)

So here I am, with cash in hand, ready to buy a (insanely overpriced according to some/most) rifle.. and thanks to this employee of the month I'll just take my business elsewhere...

I know SOJ is not gonna go under or even notice me not spending money there, but if I have to spend a couple of $$ more to not get treated as an annoyance when I buy stuff, I'll do that...

This is not a SOJ bash thread, just wondering if anyone else have any experience with them... good or bad....

This will go to two pages and end in a lock.
A quick search of this forum will get you all the opinion you would ever want about Shooters, pro and con.
I suppose it has been two or three months since we've had a Shooters melt-down, so we are about due.

The best that can be said of that place is that much like any others, it is staffed with people; some knowledgeable, courteous, and professional, some not.

Likewise, some folks have cost as a primary factor, while others perceive service as valuable and worth a premium.  I'd encourage you to vote with your wallet for whichever is of more importance to you.

alot of fun shops are slowly working themselves out of the market  by being smart asses! it wont be long before ALL of our firearm transactions are done online and  we are pretty darn close to it too. There has been more than one occasion where i have wanted to smack the shit out of people behind the counter; either for being smart asses or for trying to correct me when in all actuality it is THEY who are "lost in the sauce"

I did a search, and came up with nothing..

Like I said, the way their CC have gone, I have no desire to give them any more money..

what other places is there in the Jax area (I'm stationed in Kings Bay)

Let me start by saying I work for Shooters. I have been on this board for a short time, and I read alot of these posts, some are valid and some are embellished.

Let me also  play devil's advocate for just a second. Say Shooters told you to come on down, place your pre-order, pay your money, and wait for it to come in. 3 months from now when they still havent shipped, or better yet the price has skyrocketed, then what do we do?  Sure they have released a ship date, sure they released pricing, but just like anything else in the gun industry, these manufacturers have never found a deadline or release date they could not miss.
It is the same with alot  of the new things that are released at the Shot Show, I see it happen every year.

Alot of you guys don't cut Shooters any slack, and I would like to ask you to give us another chance. I shoot with alot of you guys at the FDCC shoots, and alot of you guys come to the store and have a great experience too. I would also like to say that  If you have a problem at the store you can contact me and I will get it straightend out for you. I am there  every Saturday and Sunday just ask for Andy.

Thats why I wrote in my original post that I didnt want this to become a SOJ bash thread... there is a couple of guys working there that have a pretty decent attitude towards customers(me at least) I have nothing against the store, but it seems like after the move to the new store its hit or miss...

I knew walking in the store that I wasnt gonna be able to get any definitive answers, but a "let me get your name and ph# and I'll give you a shout when I hear something" would go a long way.. (unless that against some kinda store policy). The " meh, I have no clue, try again later" answer doesnt really make me want to spend my hard earned money there.. I do realize you guys have way to many customers/people coming by to be on a first name basis with everybody... but like I said, an employee acknowledging your presence would go a long way.. (not looking for everybody yelling my name when I walk in the door like in cheers)

Well considering Magpul's original intention of bringing a rifle into the market at a affordable price, with maximum performance.  I guess this was lost on Bushmaster.  Oh well.

I have bought several firearms from shooters over the past 4 years, from the old store as well as the new one.  I have never had a negative experience there even when i've gone in just to kick tires.  Never had any trouble getting anybody to help me.

Shortly after they moved into the new store i bought a 1911 from them on a sunday afternoon.  Monday afternoon i took the 1911 out to some hunting land and was test firing it.  Well it broke after 50rds.  The safety fell out of it.  I drove straight to shooters and made it inside bout half hour before closing time.  Keep in mind this problem is between me and the manufacturer at this point.  The broken firearm is not shooters problem.  If they were nice they would at least ship it back to the manufacturer for repair i'm thinking.  Well they took said broken 1911 in the back and tried to repair it.  When they determined it could not be fixed without going back to the factory THEY GAVE ME A BRAND NEW 1911.  They didn't have to do that.  I wasn't expecting them to do that.  But they did.  That's good service!

Couple months ago i saw an ad in the times union paper for G17 brand new for $445.  No name or store in the ad just a phone number.  I called the number and it happened to be a store in town but they ran the ad like a personal.  That store however  was a long drive for me.  They did confirm that they had new in box G17 for 445.  I took the ad to shooters and asked them to match it, as it would save me an hours drive.  They didn't just match it, they beat it.  Again, great service.

I was checking out a 20ga pump youth model for my nephew.  Some guy named Dougie was helping me.  I asked him what was the best he could do on the price.  After giving me what i thought was a very decent price i decided i still needed to sleep on it.  Well i went back a week later to pick it up.  Unfortunetly Dougie wasnt't there.  One of the staff asked if they could help me and i said i wanted that youth model 20ga and Dougie had quoted me such n such price.  "No problem" said the staff member.  He didn't even go in the back and check it out.  He took my word for it and trusted me. It was quite a bit below retail.  I'm all about the smoking deals.  When finalizing everything i noticed said shotgun only came with a full choke.  Staff member hooked me up with a modified and improved chokes at cost.  Wow, more great service.

As someone already stated these threads seem to come up every couple months.  Normally i don't chime in.  Just thought i'd pass on a little of my experience with them.  Every place has it's good and bad.

I just dont get the people crying about it on here... is it overpriced... maybe..
But BM spent some serious cash on R/D of this thing.. they got to make it back somehow..

but for a site with so many fans and promoters of capitalism, there sure was a lot of complaining when BM revealed the price.. I mean, nobody is forcing anyone to buy it, if you dont want to pay what they want, dont.. people on here make it sound like BM owe them a rifle, and it should it should be sold at cost..

All the buzz words are in that fancy little page.  But, what kind of barrel?  What twist?  Will the shorter barrels be available to civies?  How long is the FF rail?  I read in the Magpul Industry forum but all I get is speculation.  I think the closest I'll get to an ACR is on COD Mod. Warfare 2.

Thanks for responding, I didnt realize that these threads happened that often, I did a search and came up with nothing..

well your guess is as good as mine, but I cant see why they wouldnt offer the shorter barrels (they sell them for their M4's)
the price however......

the twist as far as I've seen so far is only 1/9, but remington makes 1/7's for their ACR, so I dont see why they(or BM made barrels) wouldnt be available for civies..
(barrel twist isnt really a concern for me since all my ammo is 55gr anyway)

They are advertising it as "the worlds most adaptive combat rifle", and people here seem to think that the 2 initial versions is all that will ever be released..

DISCLAIMER: This is a summary of my feelings on Shooters bashing, and is not directed at the original poster of this thread.
I always get treated well when I go in there. I've only had a few isolated occurrences where an employee there has rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't get my panties in a wad and take to the internet though, I just dealt with another employee.
I've read accounts of things that happened there, and they sounded like legitimate gripes, but I'd say 3/4 of what I hear people whine about is little more than them being bitchy because they didn't get the "Oh shit, he posts on the interwebs, give him whatever he wants!!" treatment.

:::shrug:::

Oh, and Andy is a top-notch guy to deal with!

O.K., I've said it before and I'll continue to defend Shooters.  If you want probably the best price in town on a commodity gun (like a Glock), Shooters is your best bet.  I have a friend who needed a hammer pin for his AR and called Shooters to see if they had any.  Not only did they have one, they gave it to him.  He only bought a stripped lower from them, the rifle kit came from Del-Ton.

So he spent $150 with them and they offered to help him out for nothin'.  What is wrong with service like that???

Nothing wrong with service like that.  The last time I went into Shooters when I was in the market for a lower...after the AR hype...they were on "sale" $150, I bought one from the gun show the same weekend for $96.  I have purchased firearms from them in the past, I will most likely buy from them again.  I just know what I am buying when I make a purchase in Shooters.  If I want advice, I go elsewhere.

SOJ has always been extremely busy when I stop by.

I have had good luck at Shooters of America in Brunswick.  Same name, but not the same store/owners.  They are scheduled to open a new store on King's Bay road across from Aunt B's.

I usually buy in Ga.  I don't like buying a handgun in a town 30 miles away and then having to have it shipped.
