... with what appears to be pretty much flagrant bigotry in our forum here?
Don't we AR15 folk have a hard enough time defeating the redneck/christian/fat/white/male/trailer trash stereotype shit without actually documenting exactly the type of behavior that we're accused of? (Anyone want to take bets on how many posts we hit before the "What are you talking about? Cite an example!" crowd shows up?) |

Not sure what to make of this post. Spent all day in the lab tweaking F-18 bore sighting equipment. Not that I ever think about how the F-18s will end up killing terrorist meatsticks or any of that. They are people too, or so they say. I listen to Rush, and after I get home watch Glenn Beck. Then I reflect on the organic terrorism going on around us. Is this what you were fishing for? |
| Your post is too vague. Do you have a specifc item that warrented you posting your comments? I've never witnessed any blatant bigotry on the Florida forum. We tend to joke every now and then but I think the majority of folks that frequent this forum understand that and take it all with a grain of salt. |
| I've seen several posts lately where the racism is there, but I don't know if it's a joke or just poking fun at stereotypes. They're usually about some jackasses up to no good. Trash comes in all colors and yet for all the bitching about them, stereotypes are somewhat accurate applied to human garbage. I know plenty of white trash in the trailer park and plenty of 'hood rats. But I KNOW good people of all races as well. If you're a scumbag, does it matter what color one you are? I've also seen posts where (I think white) guys are showing pics of their black gf at the range and everybody is polite. As long as I can still change the channel, I'll go elsewhere if the BS gets too deep. |

Too many beers and burritos from the night before. What a cesspool! Now, back to hating stuff and people and things like that. |
| i am still trying to figure what is meant by Bigotry. i am not racist, and have many many friends of different ethnicities, but when i see robbery after robbery commited by an african american (with pictures as in seperate thread), i see illegal aliens in custody for serious crimes, i see murder after murder commited by arabs and arab americans (thanks texas cases (2 now with fort hood, and attempts caught in the northern cities) I guess i do become bigotted. call it what you want, perhaps stereo typic? but there just isnt that many rabii's running into the markets carrying bombs. there arent many buhdist monks flying bombs into buildings, their arent many american indian gang land slayings. Now the day i see the Lithuanian american car bombing, maybe i will change my mind. |

Now the day i see the Lithuanian american car bombing, maybe i will change my mind. Kinda my view. I have many friends of all races and creeds. One of my best friends is a Mexican. I went to high school with lowlifes that will probably become gang bangers, thieves, and eventually jail birds. I judge the book by its cover and have been for a long time (Most of my public education was in ghetto schools). So far, I have not been in a fight with anyone because I try to avoid them. However, once in high school a young black male did threaten me (lifted the front of his shirt like the gangstahs do to show off their illegally concealed weapon to intimidate). Thankfully, no weapon was there. He was always out to get me after that day though ![]() |

What I think is funny about this whole thing is the writer of the original poster hasent responded to anyones questions
about where this came from. Ive been on here for almost 9months and I havent read anything that I felt was racist. but your allways going to have a few a$$holes, but the majority are good people here. I dont think ne one can argue with that. |

When you see a snake, with markings like a rattle snake, do you give it the benefit of the doubt and assume it's harmless?
I'm not talking about race, I'm talking about cultural traits... hat sideways, no belt, pants below ass cheeks, fake limp, hand in pants ... white, black, mexican, asian, it makes no difference. I am looking for cultural traits which indicate the possible mindset of the individual of concern. I suppose that is profiling but it's not racial profiling. |
|
I'm not remotely racist....I believe what my eyes see and my ears hear. Nothing more sincere than that. And by the way, if it's true, it's not racist. Facts can't be racist. They can be unflattering, they can be unpleasant.....but "racist"? Never. The truth is what it is. |
|
OP;
Sir, I plead guilty to being most of your targeted stereotype. I'm Christian (Catholic), fat, white, and male... I'm not sure if I know exactly what defines a redneck although I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be called a redneck by most although my "liberal" minded friends know that I am a multiple gun owner, I live in the south, and have conservative social values... maybe some of them think of me as a redneck... I don't qualify as trailer trash mainly because I've never lived in a trailer but also because I'm not trashy... Stereotypes have their basis in reality/fact - get over it! Stereotypes are generalities (not universal truths) that we all use every day - get over it. Stereotypes are preconceived notions we all have based on previous life experiences - in many places this phenomenon is referred to as "learning" - not really a bad thing. The problem is that some us are a few bricks short of a full load and mentally make the transition from stereotypes being generalities to stereotypes being universal immutable truths... OK, so some people are stupid - this surprises you??? Really??? In case you haven't noticed, there is no shortage of stupidity in the world. I have learned to identify it and do my best to avoid it - I frequently advise that others do likewise. The problem with identifying stupidity is that it more difficult than identifying someones race - the latter can be done from across the street in 1 second. To identify stupidity you have to talk to someone or observe their behavior... it takes time which many are unable or unwilling to devote... but that is their shortcoming and they will suffer accordingly because of it... Life's too short to engage in hate. Life is also too short to bang your head against the wall trying to teach a fool... There's a fair amount of wisdom in the following Arabian proverb >>> He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool; avoid him. He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a student; teach him. He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep; wake him. He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man; follow him I wish you well... Carry on... |

I have no intention on "taking a hike" over the issue. Man-pon? Is that a mangina joke?
I'm just curious as to how where the crowd stands. I see two equally defensible positions. 1. Freedom means other people get to say things with which you disagree, and you have to accept it. Free country, freedom of speech. This is a gun forum, not the UN. Lighten up Francis. or 2. This is not an open forum, this is a moderated forum. We should, collectively, feel some obligation to present positively, etc. I know a shooter here that wears a collared shirt to the range, regardless of how hot it is, simply because he wants to combat "the image". I know of gun-related podcaster that joined Mensa for the same reason. I'm finding that, as I grow older, I find myself aligning more with Camp #2. From the looks of things, that puts me in the minority by about 3 to 1. |

#2.
And what SGB said, hopefully won could wish that if racist remarks were being thrown up that the report button would be worn out. Whoever is here, as more right to "be here" when they are following the COC/Rules. Those who chose to violate, aka condone/perputrate stupid bigot like behavior, are the people who can "take a hike" edit: You making fun of me for wearing collared shirts, Brosef? |

I'll tell you that with respect to this (and any other) forum, it's definitely #2. Some forums are moderated with a lighter (or heavier) hand than others but make no mistake they are moderated. This forum happens to have what I think is relatively light handed moderation. On m1911.org, the software (configured by the "super" moderator) gave me a reprimand and 4 demerits for using the abbreviation of my college degree (B.S.) in a post!!! On this forum I can say FUCK and nobody bats an eyelash...

From the looks of things, that puts me in the minority by about 3 to 1. As a moderator (1 of 6) of another (not gun related) internet forum, I have a tendency to give posters a fair amount of latitude because I have a tendency to agree with the concepts of Freedom of Speech. I draw the line at profanity, vulgarity, and hatefulness (my own interpretation of course)... but that's just me. In terms of the guy at the range with the collared shirt when it's hot and the guy who became a Mensa member - each to "combat the image". I think that the problem of "the image" is more in their minds that in the minds of the public in general... I'm a professional and a gun owner/recreational shooter - and I don't care who knows either or both of those facts. I don't hunt but don't have a problem with killing any creature (4 legged or 2 legged) as long as there is a good reason to do so. When I go shooting at a range, I wear a short sleeve shirt with a collar and 2 or 3 buttons, jeans (short or long depending), and usually docksiders or sneakers... Not because I give a shit what anyone thinks but because I wear that kind of stuff "around town" - I find them "comfortable". I had an opportunity to join Mensa and took a pass - saw no point in it... I guess some people are just more "comfortable in their own skin" than others. That's OK, it makes the world interesting (i.e. less boring). ...just my 2 cents... YMMV! <P.S.: I don't get the "bicycling friends" reference...> |

[span style='font-style: italic;']<P.S.: I don't get the "bicycling friends" reference...> There was a discussion awhile ago that highlighted that most tend to agree that bicyclers, on average, are bags of deusch, aka road bikers. And since they haven't been oppressed/disparaged/hated on/"kept down"/sold into male on male porno, the trend continues |

Eww. Anonymous name calling and jokes over the internet. Im so offended!
Im Hispanic and American Indian. Im hung like a black man. I check this site everyday and have never been offended enough to leave. I dont think Im thick skinned, I just think some people are pussies. You have people dying in a foreign land for your right to say what you want, some people are wondering how they are going to feed their family day to day, and you have those that whine about some moron behind a keyboard in Poughkeepsie making a Polish joke. Put thing into perspective. We've become a nation of pantywaists. The proper response to something that bothers you is a good old fashioned "hey bud, fuck you!" not tears on your fricken keyboard. |
| Chuck, why don't you just post a link on the thread that you think incite bigotry, so we could see if it does goes to the side of such concern. You started this thread yet I have to see and read what bugs you. (Just my suggestion amid all the previous comments). |
California!
You just wish you looked this hot.
