| Well I took the commitment today and joined Gateway. I shot in the members only area and only one other person showed up to shoot. Everyone was very nice and down to earth. I am looking forward to taking my son out the the 100yd range. |
| Im there at least once a month,,usually early morning sometime during the week..the rifles i usually shoot out there are a FDE SPR, 7.62 with a AAC 762SD, or a SBR with a M4-2000. If you ever see those rilfes, come by and introduce yourself..Ninjaman is out there a bunch also..I know there are a few members here that do not care to much for Gateway but like many say, to each their own... |
| Yeah just watch out for some of the aggressive RO's. I had one drop an N-bomb near my teenager and the third time it happened, I decided it might be time to find another environment for her to shoot in. Do not do any double tapping and be aware of your target and it can be a very safe and fun place to shoot. Of course, my favorite environment is at FDCC. =) |
To the OP –– Welcome aboard. Since joining... I shoot more! Took my two sons and a neighbor's boy out - his dad is watching the line in Korea, with the .22s and they had a ball. Then turned them loose with the AR and later introduced them to the 30-06. The family that shoots together, gets a tight group. Quoted: Yeah just watch out for some of the aggressive RO's. You are free to bring up such matters to the offending RO, another RO, or to someone in the office. I would have handled it the second time, if I thought it was necessary. I have kids in high-school and do not use those words, but I am sure they have heard them before. This could be a good time for a father to teenager chat about morals and ethics. Members can fire multiples on the two back ranges, just not the back 100 or any of the front lines. I am very pleased with the GRPC, and my only problems are with knucklehead daily shooters. I just hope they learn. |

Welcome to Gateway. I just joined Aug 20th and have been out there 11 times since then. Like you, everyone I've come across so far has been very nice and down to earth. I try to go around 0800 when it's cooler and before the rains.
Haven't had any problems with the RO's so far. One morning there was just me and 2 other guys shooting at the 100 and a RO drove by and asked me if anyone had been killed yet. Told him, not yet, and he drove off. I think the RO's get more concerned when there are lots of shooters or daily shooters out there. I'm sorry to hear one was using bad language. I'd have tried to get his name off his badge and report him to the office and maybe remind the office that they might want to have a meeting with their RO's to take appropriate action. Anyway,OP and others, hope to see you out there. Hey jBoy, I'm going to try to go Monday at 0800 if it's not raining. Otherwise, I'm going to try Tuesday same time. |

Went to GRPC this morning. Ran some new recipe reloads and assisted a friend in tweaking his new ACOG on a new Noveske.- |
