Anyone go?  How was it.  Crowded?  Prices still retarded?  I was thinking about going tomorrow, but if it's still packed like the last one, I'll just stay at home and heal my wounds from 8 hours of football today.

I went.

They put an extra row in the main room and made the aisles so skinny that there is just enough room for two lines of people to pass.

If someone stops to ask a question, then 30 or 40 people have to stop with them.

Didn't see anything that wasn't the same as the last 10 shows there.

You can get all the overpriced ammo you could ever want or desire.

The Orlando show had much better prices on guns. Basically it was more worthless then usual. I couldn't even find OD ladder rail covers. The only saving grace was the people who had all the Maxpedition stuff as I got a nice pouch to hold spare parts and stuff on my chest rig.

Life goes on.

I stopped going to the Melbourne No Fun Show or the Melbourne Dumb Show years ago and based on the feedback I read about each show it appears to have been a wise choice.

I'm with you...

I worked the circut for years and I can honestly say that the Melbourne show draws the largest number of crooks...  I don't know how some of those people can sleep at night...

Since moving here about a year ago, I have noticed how bad this area is in terms of shooting.  No good outdoor public ranges, thieves for gun store owners(except for one guy) and just really piss poor selection on anything.  Seems the gun stores just don't give a shit around here and it makes me angry that people still pay ridiculous prices around here for ammo and some weapons.  I drove to Daytona Beach recently to buy an AR because everyone around here wouldn't budge from their prices.  Lord help me if I need to order something from online.  I don't think anyone here would accept the transfer.  Sure do miss TX for the ease of gun ownership...but that's about it LOL.

Merritt Island Gun Co will do transfers all day long with absolutely zero hassle.

The only other store I will set foot in to buy something is BH, but they seem to be going down hill as of late.

Public outdoor range down in Indian River county and Titusville's private range is open on weekends to the public.

+ 1 In fact, the guy at Merritt Island Gun Co, will even provide suggestions on purchasing items on the Internet. He is definitely one of the more trouble free (no hassle) ways to handle transfers. Most other dealers frown upon Internet purchases and feel you are obligated to buy their overpriced items.

Be advised that in Cocoa, they have a law on the books that reads thus:

Sec. 14-3.  Firearm sales to be reported to police.
Any person or persons engaged in the business of selling firearms within the city limits shall upon the sale of any firearm within the city limits make a written report to the chief of police within twenty-four (24) hours. This report shall consist of names, addresses, drivers' license numbers, etc., of persons buying such firearms. Forms for the preparation of the reports required herein shall be prescribed and furnished by the city police department.
(Code 1963, § 20-5)

I don't know if it's enforced or even legal, but it's there. Link follows.

Cocoa Muni Code - look to Section 14, Article 1

Thank you. I thought it was illegal.  790.335  Prohibition of registration of firearms.

Maybe someone will let the City of Cocoa know about this...in a public forum. I love the last part about the fine of up to $5 million.  Oops.
