My brother and I just pulled our first permits this year.  He received Lake Jesup 1st week, and I received Puzzle Lake 2nd week.  We will be hunting out of my 19' bass tracker.  I have heard to use the electric trolling motor...but would it be better to use a push pole?  We were planning on hitting them with a bow fishing rig....then bang sticken 'em.  We can't wait.  Any tips from the veteran or pro hunters would be much appreciated!!!

Use dynamite... It always yields better results

Ask Slug-O...He can show you a picture of a monster gator that he caught.  It almost swallowed him up....

ETA:  I think it ate some digits off from his hand...

Look for me when I drive over Lake Jessup to head to work.  ha ha.  I see huge gators hanging out by the bridge every morning.  dozens upon dozens.  I have a recurring nightmare of getting into a crash on the bridge, flipping my car over the rail, surviving the crash but being eaten by gators.  yum.

I will be hunting SE Lake Okeechobee during the second period.

My experience has been that the trolling motor is the sneakiest way.

I have not had to much luck with the cross bow, I think I am to uncoordinated.  I use a spear gun.

Go as early as you can, last year I was tied up during the regular season, and had to hunt the make up season.   The gators were very shy and after three days of paddling my ass off I ended up wth a 6 footer.

Dam,

That thing looks like a baby raptor SLUG-O dinosaur...

I hunt gators with a crew of guys who win permits thru the FWC lottery system...

The use of a trolling motor and push pole is paramount on sneeking up on the big gators...

16' boat, strong rope, tape, gun, 12 gauge bang stick, and 3 guys are all you need...

12 footer was the largest we ever harvested...  I won't do that again for obvious reasons I won't disclose here...  We got our asses kicked when WE ALL thought he was dead and wasn't...

FWC officers were everywhere on the levee's and boat ramps...

Easy hunting my ass...  Try catching something that weighs ten times more than you do pulling it into the boat...
