With two of them coming near us, we all know that anything could happen, even a turn at the last moment. Don't be caught unprepared. Dan, stock up on that single malt.
Gustav is expected to make at least CAT 4

Godspeed to everyone.
I'm off to Costa Rica in 4 hours to celebrate my 1 year Anniversary with my wonderful wife.
I'll be keeping a watchful eye on the conditions here and keep everyone in my prayers.

I have seen reports that they have called it cat 5 now. Nasty storm. I hope Havana has battened down the hatches.

The rain bands hit central Florida today and killed a beautiful 175 mile motorcycle ride. Goddamn hurricanes...

Watching this from Costa Rica right now. I have absolutely no faith in these projected path models. Mark my words (rhetorically speaking of course), this hurricane will surprise us somehow.
OK, fine. Even the forecasters can get lucky once in a while.

Rainy and Crappy from the feeder bands here all day. Had a funnel cloud reported in Naranja heading out into the Redlands (agricultural area) today. No word on if it touched down.
Wife is keeping me updated hourly.

Damned hurricane ruined a day's fishing trip. I hope the sumbitch gets wrapped around an abandoned oil rig and stalls out.
I for damn sure don't want it to hit New Orleans- I couldn't take another 6 months or more of hearing about that place (plus I don't want a lot of people getting killed).
