Where are they in Florida? |
|
They hold some at the Port Malabar Rifle & Pistol Club outside of Melbourne. www.pmrpc.com/ |

I've been to the Malabar shoot twice. It's a bit of a drive for me, but the folks who put that shoot together work hard and do a really nice job. I don't own a sub-gun yet, so I borrow one from a friend who also shoots there. Aside from being a lot of fun, it's been a great learning experience for me, whether it's my own lessons sorting out issues with my gun & gear, or the helpful tips I got from other shooters. |
Although I haven't been to one in ages, the Malabar one is fun and always different. Each month it was something new. The only downside for me was they ended too late. Only left time to shoot, go home clean then eat dinner and my day was done. I need some extra time on Sundays to prepare for all the BS at work during the week.![]() I should try to make it there again before it gets too hot. |

Pooby, if you ever go to any of the Hernando shoots, talk with Dave Gelbogis (he's the club president and organizes the machine gun shoots, etc.) Good guy and into black rifles and machine guns. I only shoot the rifle matches but he had mentioned to me last year that for the 2-gun matches (shotgun, pistol) you can use a subgun on the pistol stages if you want. My view is that there is enough interest (and subgun owners) in Central FL that they could probably arrange a match and have good attendance. This topic came up a few months ago and he showed some interest. I'd certainly do it if it were closer....but NO WAY can I get to Miami for a shoot. Might be worth mentioning to him to see if we can get something going locally. |
I used to have access to the perfect place in central Fl. and I was in the process of organizing a shoot there when the owner, my friend, got cancer. He then died and the people who control the place now have taken away all private access. It's used solely for training now. This place: www.southernexposuretraining.com/ Joe Seybold was my personal friend. It's 20 minutes north of Lakeland. I'm still friends with them, I'm going to check and see if I can get access and set up a match. I'll need some help if they let me use the place. |

I still think Hernando is the best option, they already do the action rifle, 2-gun, 3-gun, He-Man 3 gun and cowboy action stuff there. There's the five different stages already set aside (including the new shoot-house on stage 4) and it's just a matter of finding time on the schedule and getting it setup. Count me in if you need some help. |
