Me and my daughter went to a gun shop today to pick up a receiver and she saw this cute little cricket and was wondering if any body ever had one. Here is pic of the gun she saw. Please keep in mind that she is only 6 years old and weighs 40 pounds so I’m looking for something that is not as heavy as she is.  This will be her first gun.

My daughters first gun was a Cricket. The only problem I had with it was the lock built into it, almost every time she was reloading she would hit it with her hand and lock it. She also out grew the little rifle quicker then I thought she would thats ok though it gave me a reason to build another AR just for her.

I do not know, She will grow out of it fast. But I like the idea of a bolt action, IE make every shot count. But I like the idea of a 10/22 youth. In a few years you can get a new stock and do a lot of mods.

Good buddy of mine bought his daughter that very rifle. She's outgrown now, but still likes to shoot it occassionally.

Great choice for her first gun and she'll be able to shoot it for several years.

My daughter is 4 years old and saw one at agunshow.  She thought it was a "Princess Rifle" and asked if she could have one.

She doesn't take instruction well enough or have enough muzzle awareness yet.  But it was tempting.  I've started working with her with an air rifle for now.  She is keeping pellets in a pellet trap at 20 feet, but the dog still needs to not wander between her and the target, because of the muzzle awareness issue, and not quite grasping the full implications of the safety rules yet.

My nephew had one as his first gun.  They make a nice back-pack piece too.  Small, nothing realy to go wrong with them, and even though they aren't comfortable to shoot as an adult they are still a bit steadier for popping squirrels than a handgun.

I got one for my daughter when she had been home from the hospital for less than a week.  I got a pink laminated stock with it.  Even though it will be a while before she can use it she has it.

My daughter has a Marlin 915Y that has a much more solid build.  If you look a the Cricket, there is some stamped metal there.

Here you go:

She lets me use it to teach beginner classes and the adults like it as well, although it is a bit small for some.

Nice, I see all the kids eyeballing the Crickets at the gunshows. I think outdoor world is even carrying them now. Where are you going to take her shooting? Not many kid friendly ranges here in S FL.
