I just about have a new DPMS LR308 ready to go. This is my first scoped rifle. It has a Harris swivel bipod, Leupold  VXIII 8.5-25X50 scope, with  tall Leupold mounts, RRA match grade two stage trigger, JP Recoil Eliminator and a Magpul stock with adjustable cheek rest. Just a few more additions and it will be complete.  I think I will take it to Cecil M. Webb when it's complete. Anyone interested in helping me get it on the paper at a hundred yards? I supply the ammo and you supply the expertise. Should be ready the second week of June. Let know.

Get it on paper and on the bullseye at the 25 yard mark and then keep moving your target back till you get to 100 yards. (or more)

Have you mounted the scope in the rings yet ? See if you can find someone with a bore sighter it helps but it can be done with out . Seeings how its a .308 you might want get a zero at 100 yrds then later zero it at 200 yrds .  How much ammo do you have ?

ETA Both of my .308s are zeroed at 200 yrds. But thats just me ...

I have a laser bore sighter. It really doesn't do to well on a bright day. The closest house to me is a good 100 yards. I have been trying to focus it on their garage wall. I may have to wait for an over cast day. I have 200 rounds of surplus ammo. I will get more once I get started.

Get a box the bigger the better ( who said size don't matter any who ) put some white paper with an X on it in the bottom of the box . This gives you a shadow so you can see the laser dot better . This can be done at 50 yards too . At 50 yards if the distance from the center of your bore to the x-hair of you scope is lets say 2 " . Then your POA will be 1" above the laser dot . Will this let you shoot a fly off a hogs ass at 500yards NO but it will put you on the paper and you should be at zero in less than 20 rnds . That's if you can hold it .

Thanks for all the great ideas. ReefRaider, i would never thought of the box idea, thanks.  I am going to try it.  I received a large one today courtesy of UPS. Punani I would really like to attend the weekend get together but I am afraid I will be in the North Georgia mountains that week with my lovely wife. She has spent the last ten months teaching chemistry to kids who didn't want to learn, while I sat at home retired. Time for me to show my appreciation. Maybe I can go next time.

You might be on paper at 200yds if you zero it at around 25yds with a six o clock hold.

Maybe

at 100yds, the drop is very similar to a .30-06, the difference is almost negligable. You may want to ask someone in the reloading part of the forum, if they're around your AO they may be of great help...not to mention learning how to make your own match ammo at prices so low, they must be stolen
