First I would like to thank: Hanibal Vince Punani jjrockbush DeltaAir432 DK-Prof Akubli Brad shortyAK and a huge Thanks to SP1grrl For your care and support of my attempt to get calendars of hot girls overseas to Ramadi Hotties For Heros Please know that your contributions have calendars on their way to our guys and I have requested photos of the guys with the calendars to post. Personal orders will go out no later than the 20th, I apologise for the delay. That having been said, I have not been around the boards of late in large part because of this effort. Nearly 6500 community members between 3 boards viewed this link and 10 generous people were moved enough to contribute. It saddened me to no end. My Brother in Law is anticipating 100-500 calenders for those stationed in Ramadi as part of the 3rd ID. I will see my word come to fruition; I was just under the impression that I would have the support of my beloved community do so. As I stare at a closet full of $20 t-shirts that I would gladly purchase 10 times over for the benefit of another member I am disheartened by the response to my call. That is all. jenn |

Jenn, While I appreciate your efforts and applaud them, some of us do our own thing. Personally I wouldn't support calendars for troops. When I participate in the ANYMARINE program deployed Marines have asked for and have received from me: CD's, DVD's, foot powder, Chap-Stik, Q-tips, baby wipes, socks, flip-flops, gum, beef jerky, magazines, and batteries. I think possibly a lack of support for your program was more the nature of what was being sent, not supporting the troops in general. One of the recipients of a package I sent said he received it due to the length of time it took to arrive. The intended Marine had rotated out. While it contained absolutley NOTHING he would have asked for, in true Marine fashion he put the items to use in the barter system and traded for what he did need. I was really glad it worked out for him and helped a brother out. Semper Fi, Burney |
I do an event annually called Rock n' Load where I collect those items mentioned. The calendars were separate simple boost. I know everyone on these boards supports our troops. I did not mean to come off in such a way to imply anything contrary to that. I had just hoped for greater success. jenn |
Jenn, I thought it was a great idea and effort on your part. I expected a lot more too. I sent out emails for your "boost" to quite a few people, and didn't get anything back either. I guess Burney's right. Everybody does their own thing. At least there are people, like yourself, that show the initiative and organize something! And that's what matters in the end. |
