Who do we need to pester to get open carry in Florida?

"open carry means you'll be shot first" not withstanding who would help push for open carry(besides the limited one we already have, hunting, camping, fishing etc) in this great state of ours?

What's wrong with concealed carry? Why Do you want to let everyone know you have a gun on you?

Same here, why advertise that you are armed?  Seems to me you would be the FIRST target to be engaged.

No thanks, I'll just keep on keeping on w/o drawing any attention to myself.

Im not arguing if you would or would not and that first engaged bit is BullShit IMO, but...

I think the OPTION should be available and I would hope that ALL members here would support MORE firearm freedoms wether or not you'd excercise those particular ones!

I'd be the first to walk into a shopping mall with my Sig P226R in a tactical thigh holster and my SBR slung over my sholder

me either.  I'd support the effort, but I'd continue to carry concealed.  I get enough strange looks as it is.

I would not open carry even if it was legal, however I would like to see an open law carry passed so I won't have to be so paranoid about printing or my shirt accidentally lifting up in a store or something.

I may have no choice but to go with open carry. Where WOULD I conceal an AR15 on a 3'10" body???

I'm sorry. In time you all will come to understand my twisted sense of humor.

#1 Open carry is more comfortable.

#2 Open carry provides visual deterance. The bad guys don't like hard targets folks.

I'd open carry in a heart  beat, and no I don't worry about someone taking my weapon away from me.  Just ask anyone who knows me if they thing that would be a good idea.

Mmmmmm....  Wishful thinking I'm afraid but.....

I would probably still CCW most of the time but it would be great if printing/flashing weren't a problem and, when conditions made CCW impractical, being able to open carry would be great.  I think the most beneficial thing would be de-sensitizing people WRT handguns.  Maybe the sheeple would figure out that it's safer for us all if we let BGs know that we will defend ourselves "with vigor".

Pick and choose your battles. Since most of the posters are against open carry, why not "pester" our representatives with a worthy cause.. like getting CCW allowed in hospital ER's?

Open carry may be a visual deterrence to some crack head dumbshit bad guy but it may work the other way also.  Meaning you might be the first one to get shot standing in line in a convenience store that some guy comes in to rob.

Ding! We have a winner!

If I was going to pull a robbery and I needed crack bad enough to do it in the first place the old guy with the pistol on his hip would be the first one out of the picture.

It wouldnt be a deterrent at all i would just shoot him and move on with plan A.

And No I wouldnt stop to ask someone who knows him if it was a good idea!

Maybe some of you have issue with situational awareness, and bad guys are looking for EASY scores, not one where there is going to be potential active resistance.

Seeing a gun IS the deterrent. If the logic you follow is the ones stated above then their would ne NO crime. The UNKNOWN doesnt concern scum or they wouldnt risk robbing people

At least i now know where many stand, yet many would be the first to condemn the fudds for not helping stop AWBs, when they have the EXACT same mentality as seen in this post.

You're right, NORMALLY, bad guys are looking for easy targets.  But if a guy walks through the door of a Mini Mart with a gun in hand to rob it and sees you paying for your coke open carrying, you're getting shot.  I'd rather be concealed carry in plain clothes.  I don't want them to figure out what the hell happened to them until they are dead on the tile in the store.  Leave the open carry to people who have the training to carry that way.  And trust me I have no issues with situation awareness.

I'm a firm believer in the "An armed society is a polite society" mentality, but think about the down side of everybody open carrying for a second. Think about all the people that you know that shouldn't be anywhere near a gun having one all the time.
And the proper person to "pester" would be lame-duck Jeb, as I'm not impressed by Crist.
