Can a non-resident purchase an AR15 in FL? I have a house in FL, but I am not a resident (no license, etc). Thanks. Ken |

Sure you can. Fill out the paper work for the national back ground check at the time you buy the gun. Now, some asshat that doesn't KNOW the law may say "you have to be a resident". It just aint so. If your cash is green and you have a clean record you should be good to go. Oh.... and when they say "you have to be a resident", tell them they are misinformed and ask them to show you in writing the rules for selling guns.... As far as I know, NO WHERE does it require residency. If it aint written it isn't the law. Just ignorance. BTW, NY and Washington DC are bitching and moaning that their fine citizens come to florida to buy guns (because it is legal to do so) and then return home with them - they hate that and complain that THEIR crime problem is caused by EVIL Florida, Georgia that let's people buy guns THEY DON'T let their citizens buy in their home state. Ok, enough said be safe. and remember the responsibility that comes with ownership. |
The dealer was mistaken- or just didn't want to deal with it. You can buy a handgun here and have it shipped to an FFL in your home state here you can pick it up. You have to comply with the purchase laws of BOTH states and you will have to fill out a 4473 form at both ends. Before the dealer can ship the gun, he has to have an original signature copy of the receiving dealer's FFL (although I think ATF now allows fax copies, but ain't sure). Best way is to get a copy of your favorite gun sop's FFL and bring it with you. |
