What would a typical course be? ie target size and distance. I really want to go to these, but I dont want to embarrass my self by sitting at the first target for 10min. |
Figure a minimum of about five yards to a maximum of about 50 yards, with a majority of courses usually between 10-25 yds. Figure also between 3 - 8 targets per course, sometimes with different shot requirements (2 to center mass, 1 to head, etc...). I can also promise you that you won't embarrass yourself too much. We only shoot for bragging rights, and skill levels vary widely. Even the best of us have a bad run or two on occassion. Some of us wear fatigues and will not hesitate to dive into a mud puddle with all their fancy tac gear. I wear a collared shirt and khaki pants, stuff pretzel rods in my empty mag pouches, and walk between targets. It's as serious or as fun as you want it to be. Some folks have every piece of gear known to man. One guy used a Garand at the last match. Another is very competitive with one of those Keltec folding rifles. The point of this long winded response to your questions is that you should just come out and shoot with us and not worry about how you look, but on how much you enjoy shooting. |
