I know that it is against Disney rules to take a gun into the parks but what about a gun in my car on their property or in my hotel room on their property? The socialist ninny soccer moms on the Disney boards claim that's against the rules too. GunLvr |
Wrong. There are no signs posted anywhere on DW property denying you the right to have your pistol concealed provided you have your Concealed Weapons Permit from Florida or another state which has reciprocity with Florida. I carry my Glock pistol into DW every year attached to my person. Bags are checked, but your person is not. So make sure it's concealed and not in a fannypack or backpack. WTF would you seek advice on gun laws from any idiot who frequents a Disney board? This subject has been covered ad nauseum around here, but seeing as plenty of people get their info elsewhere, many folks just don't know. HS1 |

There is no legal prohibition against carrying at DW. If discovered, all they can do is ask you to leave, and so long as you comply you are fine. That said, there are two reasons I do not carry there. First and foremost, there are very, very few places in the park where you will have a clear backstop in the event of an over-penetration or miss. Many times, what look like concrete walls are mere fiberglass skins with crowds on the other side. Second, I don't want to jeopardize my annual pass.... Matt |
Backstop? However miniscule the chances are of happening, in a life and death situation which required you to defend yourself with your pistol, backstop shouldn't even be a concern. Target acquisition and swift accurate shots should be your only concern. Engaging tangos from beyond 21 feet shouldn't be an option with your pistol. Any immediate threat should be obvious to you for you to engage in self-defense. Someone going nuts with a pistol shooting other people outside of your immediate area, doesn't give you the right to play hero. Playing hero outside of legal encumbrances in a place full of make-believe fantasy fags should be left strictly for those trained LEO's who respond to the scene. HS1 |
Yeah, backstop. You maintain 100% civil liability for every round that leaves the muzzle. If you put one through the bad guy, or miss, and kill some 5 year old waiting for the teacup ride, you are screwed. And deservedly so. I never, ever, advocated engaging anyone who was not a direct threat. In point of fact, i didn't even advocate carrying in the park. I don't live in a fantasy world where "engaging tangos from beyond 21 feet" is or ever will be a concern. However, the fact that you are threatened does not in any way give you license to endanger or harm third parties in the process of defending yourself. The concept that under the stress of a deadly-force situation, you can deliver "swift accurate shots" without needing to be concerned about a miss or over-penetration seriously conflicts with reality. I carry to protect my family. I won't be worrying about backstop or legal ramifications if (God forbid) I have to draw a weapon to kill someone. Am I supposed to ask a violent assailant to relocate our altercation to a venue with sufficient backstop? |
To each their own. Presumably, you will not need to ask a violent assailant to relocate, as you will be moving off the line of attack - so would it not make sense to do so in a direction that provides the least danger to others? Part of protecting your family is not losing your liberty or everything you own..... Matt |

I was recently at Disney's Coronado Springs resort hotel for a week-long conference. I carried (concealed in an ankle holster) every day. When I went to the pool in the evening, I left the gun in the room. I had additional weapons in my car. I didn't visit the park. I would be concerned about my backstop if I were to fire my weapon. But that concern does not stop me from carrying. |

The last two times I was at the park (Two and a half years ago, and last January) I didn't see a 'no weapons' sign at the entrance to Magic kingdom, but they were running everyone through metal detectors, and they were sweeping the patrons with hand-held wands as well. Of course, by this point, even with a CCW, you are screwed, you can't very well turn around and ride the fucking tram back to your car, and I wasn't crazy about leaving my fanny pack with my USP .40 in my wife's shitbox hyundai all day. So, as a responsible parent and adult, I stuck the fannypack under my two-year old in his stroller, under the seat cushion. His stroller set off the metal detector anyway, and they didn't give it a second glance. Al-Quaida terrorists, take note: put an AK under some lard assed baby in a pram if you want to sneak it in Disney World ! In January, I figured it would be the same thing, so I took a Colt Agent in my vest pocket, and just stuckj the vest in the cargo compartment of my kid's stroller until we were in the park. Do I really think I'm gonna have to draw down in Disney or run into trouble ? No, but neither did that woman who got raped and/or killed a few years back... Disney has got to be easy pickins' for thieves, cause everyone is gonna be loaded up with cash and kids, an easy and tempting combination. |

Although I realize disney brings a shitload of money into the local economy, I won't spend a penny there. As far as having a concealed weapon goes, if they find it and ask you to leave you must immediately comply, otherwise risk armed trespass charges. In the hotel, its the same as your home- your only risk is theft by unscrupulous staff. As far as needing a gun at dw, crooks consider it a smorgasbord of easy pickin's... |
