The (147.000 - shift) used to be the flagship repeater when I lived in that area. I was over on the east side of FL this past week however and it wasn't coming in that great. give this a try there should be some good info here www.sffma.net/ or www.florida-repeaters.org/144listing.pdf Dade Co repeaters start around page 10 |

2 meters is between 144 and 148 mhz if you have a scanner try 420 through 450 as well. Do you speak spanish? Some of the repeaters are spanish only. You might want to try tuning into a net, they are usually start at various times but mostly in the early evening. They usually last awhile in your area as well do to the number of radio operators. Drive time is a very active period to hear transmissions also. We used to have a late night net on the 147.000 when I lived back that way. I don't think they do it anymore. If you do happen to hear it listen for crazy Lenny "the interrogator" KE4KEY. you'll laugh your ass off. I will see if I can find a net schedule in your area, I used to have one saved in my computer but I'm not sure if I do anymore. Haven't used the radio in a while, not to many ops in the Naples area. |
Spanish only in Miami? NO. Say it ain't so. I first got interested in HAM radio when I was in Naples and bought my first 2m HT there from a guy I knew. There was quite a bit of activity at the local radio club I visited (circa 2000). I've talked to Naples folks via Echolink on a Naples repeater a month or so ago. It seemed pretty active. One would think that there would be a fair amount of ops in the Naples area. A visit to QRZ.com and plugging in all of the zipcodes in Collier County seems to pull up a fair amount of folks. Of course, there is a large percentage of those folks who aren't active HAMs but still..... |

Yep I am pretty sure there are a number of hams in the area, however the bands are dead. You might pick up a few now and then but chances of them being in the late 20's to 30something range is few and few in-between. I mean I am sure talking about colonoscopy will be a pretty hot topic for me in 30 years but for now I just as soon only monitor the radio. ![]() |

Today was the HAM radio function test from the National Hurricane Center in Miami. I talked to Julio there on the radio and the signal was 100% crystal clear. I used Echolink as did several others from around the nation. Did any of the rest of you Florida HAMs participate in this test? Some more information can be found at the below link. www.voipwx.net/ |

Ham in Boca Raton here (in 20's too)--KG4VOZ. I'd be glad to help setup an echolink, esp. to get some arfcom/younger Ham's on the air. I went inactive after I discovered kidney dialysis was the hot topic here. Edit--Forgot to mention, I have a Tech rating. Morse isn't my bag. |
Where on this dite would I fibf it. I found some clubs but no freq. |
| Google is your friend in this case as with many others. Once you find some local clubs listed on the ARRL's website, do a search on Google for the club's name and see if they have their own website. Be sure to check out their website for links to other clubs in the area. In my area, Tulsa, Oklahoma there is Tulsa Amateur Radio Cluband Tulsa Repeater Organization and I would think your area would have something similar. |
| The Everglades Club repeater is the 146.865. There might be the PL of 94.8 to bring it up. I talk on that repeater most days around 07:00. There are alot of unused repeater around Dade. I being use different ones for the late 13 years. SKSseven and I have talked before on two meters a couple of years ago on 147.000. |
