AP53 SBR (Page 4 of 4)
Shot mine at 2 Gun yesterday. Not a high round count but we did torture test it by letting everyone (12 of us) do a stage with it. Got it pretty damn hot  . We had zero issues making hits on steel targets from 100 to 200yds and I tied for 4th yesterday in the rankings. I'm starting to think I actually shoot this thing better than my ARs. I'm up to about 1000rds total through it now, and probably 800 of those have been suppressed. I cleaned it initially when I got it but have not since then. Only started to get some failures to return to battery after I took the can off and tried to run unsuppressed. Put the can back on and it went to working again. She was pretty gross but a 30 minute cleaning and she's back to running smoothly again.

That's my thinking on it. #8 is probably better for 100% suppressed but yours was soft enough shooting on #7 that it seems to be a good middle ground. |

My 53 in 300 which I think I posted in this thread but I had also made a thread on it is finally pretty. Well beyond my semi crappy welding. Diy flat bent, in 300 blk. Today I sandblasted it, mag phosphated and sprayed it with alumihyde flat black. Attached File Attached File |

I think I've finally got this one sorted out. From the factory, the bolt gap was way undersize. I went with an RCM bolt and #8 locking piece. Had to shave a little off the cocking support, it was making contact with the bolt carrier, and -4 rollers, but it's right in there now. I put a Griffin brake for my HRT suppressor, but I'm still undecided if I'll shoot it suppressed, I will pick up an ARHK FRT when I can.

Thanks Its an Ac Unity stock, they do list as working for a hk53/33. The issue is the normal 53/33 these days, aka the clones use a buffer in the stock which this stock does not have. Mine is built from a hk 33 parts kit with a buffered carrier. If you have a buffered carrier you could just swap it on, if you don't you could run it but you risk damage with no buffer. Not saying it will break something but its a risk. You could swap to a factory buffered 53 carrier but good luck finding one. You could also get a 33 buffered carrier Which is pricery as well and get it cut down. I used the carrier stock with a bushing in the space for the spring to be able to use a shorter 53 spring. Basically I did for mine what was the cheapest and easiest options that I could work around as I built it. edit you do need to get a recoild spring that is not attached to a stock, they are easy to find. |
