You can indeed use them and they work but the fixed stock is much more comfortable. The great thing is these are modular and you can swap them out. Back in the 70s/ear.y 80s it was touted that compared to AR15/M16 these HKs were more "modular" than the ARs. For the most part AR15s were two flovors of SP1 and you didn't swap parts so much if at all. |

It does look long, but I’m assuming since it’s walnut you could cut it down and rearrange the hardware fairly easily. Still, Multiple pull lengths would be a great idea. It says “overall length 10 inches”. |

First range trip with the gun. Everything ran well. Only issue I had was with one of the plastic factory MKE mags. One of the rounds basically came straight up and didn't hit the barrel feed cone. Within the ~300rds I fired out of the AP53 yesterday that was the only failure and it didn't happen again. The bore was concentric enough to not cause any baffle strikes with my new Griffin Recce 5. It does have a #7 locking piece in there and -4 rollers to deal with the increased pressure from the can. I shot with and without it and the only noticeable difference was brass being sent into orbit with the can on. It shoots pretty well though. I am definitely a fan. |

Did you get the adaptor to create a shoulder for the suppressor? I want to say I read something about that, not sure. Also, I want to get a dedicated 5.56 can as my only rifle can is a 762SDN-6 |

My barrel has the square shoulder and my Griffin taper mount works well enough with the suppressor alignment rod so I sent it a few hundred times to check. No issues yet. |

| To revisit the issue with MKE metal mags not always locking in? Finally got around to checking all my 30s. Six out of seven locked in great. Couldn't see any difference whatsoever between any of them. That one mag would just pull out. Finally took a screwdriver and wedged it under the metal skirt at the top of the mag catch area of the mag. A little twisting pressure and now that mag locks in just fine. |

When stumbling around on printables looking for something I found an adapter to use ar mags in a hk 33/53. I printed one to check it out, at first I thought it was a mag well adapter. It is actually a an adapter that goes on a stanag ( sp ? ) mag, and it seems to work, at least it lets an ar mag lock in to my 53. I have not tested it in live fire or even feeding yet. But with the discussion going on about mags, someone might want to give it a real try. Printables link |

What is the way forward for those of us with a AP53 and A3 stock now that there seems to be no more recoil rod assemblies available now? I knew I should have picked one up while getting everything else lined out. Is the recoil rod attached to the MKE endplate useable at all once removed for the A3 stock? |

I had a spare assembly and just worked mine back and forth until it came loose then cleaned it up on the bench grinder. I guess theyve got varying degrees of weld on them. |

First this the 53 in 300 blk I finally got working a month or so ago. It is bent flat I did, I built it years ago and was trying to get it running by modding the surplus 53 spring I had. I finally broke down and just bought a new serviceable spring and it worked. Do not mind the surface rust, as the day I took it out ut was humid as hell and I brought the gun and just thru it in the basement. I just did another and final test fire tonight and ordered fresh park solution and alumihyde so it will be blasted and finished/coated in a few weeks. So @brk_bigboss this is what one looks like with a folder on it. Now mine is built from a 33 parts kit with a buffered bolt carrier so I can get away with this stock. I also like the slim handguard looks, might order a Magpul one just to check it out. If you really wanted to you can use 33 carrier with a spacer to use a buffered 53 recoil spring, you just need the spacer and a cut down cocking handle as well as the bolt carrier.
